Рецепт I play the flute, but today I give you a broccoli medley.
by Jess Smith

I know what you're thinking....band camp. Well just for the record I didn't attend okayyy. Kiwi's ask me all the time:

"Is high school in America like the movies?"

"Is being in a sorority how they show it on TV?"

My answer, "Yes."

So there ya have it folks, it's in writing for you... it's gotta be the truth.

Another something I'd like to clear up before we go any further with today's tune....is the definition of medley. Because while it does mean "hodgepodge" it also means "a piece of music"

noun

1.

a mixture, especially of heterogeneous elements; hodgepodge;jumble.

2.

a piece of music combining tunes or passages from varioussources: a medley of hit songs from Broadway shows.

Jess's titles never make any sense...

"Is it true she's crazy?"

Answer - "Yes."

What can I say I'm a 'yes' gal today....grab it while it's hot who knows how long this is going to last.

Thank you, dictionary.com for that wonderful ellaborate definition. Remember when you actually had to use that giant book to look up words, the one you could barely lift (or was that just me as an 8 year old?) Looking up words in the dictionary took forever. (Or was that just me as well? shit.)

Thanks google. Our kids are never going to learn the ABC's.

Ingredients//

Directions//

Chop broccoli into mini trees (you get what I mean right?)

Chop white onion

Boil black beans until soft

1 part beans 2 parts water - takes a while...about 40 minutes - you can always use canned to make it faster AKA you're in one of those, "If I don't eat in the next 5 minutes I may kill" moods...

Heat a big sautéing pan to medium//hot

Place 1 tbsp coconut oil into it

Saute brocoli in the pan - sometimes I add a little water at the bottom, & put the lid on top- this helps it steam and get soft quicker (I'm all about speed today)

Once boiled - drain, & rince black beans

Place beans & onion into the pan - stir arround - wait for the onions to become clear

Then add the eggs

Stir around until eggs are scrambled and brocoli is soft enough to cut in half easily

There is probably some technical way to tell if the brocoli's done, but that's my way

Enjoy!

Veggies - check

Protein - check

Yum - check

Have you gone to band camp?

Is it like the movies?

(oooo I crack myself up)

Be GOOD to YOURSELF,

Jess
