So last week was unabashedly awful. We cried a lot. I apparently made a bunch of other people cry with my post. Sorry about that. But I’ve found some peace with the whole situation. She had a long, VERY well loved life and I know we did absolutely every single possible thing that could be done for her (and I’m grateful we didn’t have children and could afford it).
We’re a rescue dog kind of family, so Sunday and Monday we (by which I mean hubby, myself, and Callie) met 3 Great Pyrenees mixes from Grassroots Animal Rescue, whom we’ve fostered for before. .%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%E2%80%99re%20a%20rescue%20dog%20kind%20of%20family,%20so%20Sunday%20and%20Monday%20we%20(by%20which%20I%20mean%20hubby,%20myself,%20and%20Callie)%20met%203%20Great%20Pyrenees%20mixes%20from%20Grassroots%20Animal%20Rescue,%20whom%20we%E2%80%99ve%20fostered%20for%20before.%20%20We%20particularly%20were%20interested%20in%20the%20pyr%20mixes%20because%20Callie%20herself%20is%20a%20Pyrenees/Malamute%20mix%20and%20she%E2%80%99s%20the%20most%20chillaxed,%20awesome%20dog.%20%20That%20sort%20of%20temperament%20really%20suits%20our%20lifestyle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20little%20girl%20was%20sweet,%20even%20tempered,%20pretty%20calm%20but%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20feel%20any%20real%20tug.%20%20But%20the%20two%20brothers%20we%20met%20Monday%E2%80%A6OMG.%20%20Pyr/Husky%20mixes.%20%20As%20soon%20as%20this%20guy%20crawled%20into%20my%20lap,%20I%20was%20a%20goner.%20%20And%20then%20his%20brother%20crawled%20up,%20too,%20and%20for%20fifteen%20minutes%20I%20was%20insane%20enough%20to%20consider%20bringing%20them%20both%20home.%20%20DOUBLE%20PUPPY%20LAP%20CUDDLES.%20%20And%20then%20I%20remembered%20that%20these%20adorable%20balls%20of%20fluff%20will%20top%20out%20around%2075-80%20pounds%20and%20added%20to%20our%20already%20110%20pound%20dog%E2%80%A6I%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20going%20to%20be%20able%20to%20manage%20all%20that%20without%20attaching%20them%20all%20to%20some%20kind%20of%20sled.%20%20Not%20whatcha%20call%20practical%20in%20Mississippi.%20%20So%20much%20as%20it%20pained%20me,%20I%20split%20the%20brothers%20up%20and%20brought%20this%20one%20home.%20%20I%E2%80%99ve%20never%20had%20a%20boy%20dog%20before,%20so%20I%E2%80%99ve%20saying%20%E2%80%9Cshe%E2%80%9D%20and%20%E2%80%9Cher%E2%80%9D%20all%20over%20the%20place.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20an%20homage%20to%20Daisy,%20we%E2%80%99ve%20named%20him%20Huckleberry,%20Huck%20for%20short.%20%20If%20you%20do%20not%20immediately%20get%20the%20reference,%20go%20and%20watch%20Tombstone%20post%20haste.%20%20Great%20movie.%20%20He%20was%20Hank%20at%20the%20rescue,%20so%20we%20figure%20that%E2%80%99ll%20be%20similar%20enough%20he%20ought%20to%20be%20able%20to%20learn%20his%20name%20quickly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHubby%20managed%20to%20catch%20him%20still%20for%20long%20enough%20to%20take%20a%20decent%20picture.%20%20Most%20of%20mine%20are%20blurry,%20with%20him%20streaking%20toward%20me%20to%20kiss%20the%20camera.%20%20He%20loves%20kisses.%20%20And%20laps.%20%20And%20snuggles.%20%20And%20even%20his%20new%20big%20sister,%20who%20keeps%20rolling%20her%20eyes%20and%20giving%20me%20this%20pained%20%E2%80%9CMooooom!%E2%80%9D%20look.%20%20Yes,%20Callie,%20big%20sisters%20the%20world%20over%20have%20that%20look%20for%20their%20little%20brothers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20far,%20he%E2%80%99s%20a%20chill%20little%20dude.%20%20Likes%20his%20crate%20(he%20already%20had%20a%20head%20start%20on%20that%20with%20his%20foster%20mommy).%20%20Was%20quiet%20overnight%20and%20even%20while%20my%20hubby%20(now%20on%20night%20shift)%20was%20sleeping%20today.%20%20I%20think%20we%20have%20a%20winner!%20%20Daisy%20would%20approve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETAGS:Huck%20/%20Kait%20Nolan%20/%20Personal%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
