- Combine first 8 ingredients in a large saucepan; cook over medium heat till thoroughly heated, stirring frequently. Reduce heat; simmer 15 min. Remove and throw away cinnamon sticks, cloves, coriander seeds, and nutmeg, using a slotted spoon. Stir in rum. Cook over medium heat till thoroughly heated (don't boil). Pour into mugs. If you like, garnish with cinnamon sticks and orange slices.
- Extra cider or possibly apple punch can be refrigerated for a week in an air tight container.
