%20spicing%20up%20some%20Sunday%20chicken,%20we%20decided%20to%20marinate%20our%20chicken%20pieces%20in%20honey,%20soy%20sauce,%20and%20sesame%20oil%20with%20spices%20including%20the%20star%20anise%20and%20galangal.%20Garlic%20seemed%20to%20be%20necessary,%20and%20then,%20instead%20of%20onion,%20we%20chopped%20fresh%20chives%20from%20our%20garden,%20and%20used%20the%20lavender-colored%20chive%20flowers%20for%20our%20garnish.%20After%20marinating%20for%2040%20minutes%20or%20so,%20we%20roasted%20the%20chicken,%20basting%20every%20fifteen%20minutes%20or%20so.%20The%20flavors%20were%20excellent%20-%20sweetness%20from%20the%20honey,%20saltiness%20from%20the%20soy,%20bitterness%20from%20the%20garlic%20and%20chives,%20earthiness%20from%20the%20galangal,%20and%20that%20interesting%20aromatic%20flavor%20from%20the%20star%20anise%20-%20it%20was%20all%20there.%20The%20skin%20just%20didn't%20crisp%20up%20the%20way%20we%20would%20have%20liked.%20We%20think%20this%20was%20because%20we%20had%20the%20oven%20on%20400%20for%20the%20first%20half%20of%20the%20cooking%20time.%20Next%20time%20we'll%20marinate%20longer%20to%20really%20infuse%20the%20flavors%20into%20the%20meat,%20and%20we'll%20put%20the%20oven%20temperature%20a%20bit%20higher.%20Our%20recipe%20below%20reflects%20those%20changes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20saucepan,%20combine%20the%20water,%20soy%20sauce,%20honey,%20sherry,%20chives,%20galangal,%20star%20anise%20and%20garlic.%20Simmer%20over%20medium%20heat%20for%2015%20minutes.%20Whisk%20in%20the%20sesame%20oil%20and%20set%20aside.%20Place%20the%20chicken%20pieces%20in%20a%20baking%20dish%20and%20pat%20them%20dry.%20Season%20the%20chicken%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20Pour%201/2%20of%20the%20marinade%20over%20the%20chicken%20and%20allow%20to%20marinate%2045%20minutes%20to%20an%20hour.%20Heat%20oven%20to%20425%20degrees.%20Place%20pan%20in%20oven%20and%20roast%20chicken,%20turning%20and%20basting%20with%20the%20additional%20marinade%20occasionally,%20until%20cooked,%20about%2045%20minutes.%20Sprinkle%20with%20sesame%20seeds%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
