Traditionally this drink only is made out of ginger and hot water effectively making it a type of tea but modern versions add sugar to make it more drinkable. I remember my grandmother used to make this when I was young, it was a common drink on cold days when we don’t have enough budget to buy some coffee, its either this or roasted rice coffee that was served on the breakfast dining table but as a child I never liked the flavour it was too strong for me and I feel like drinking some old school medicine that were extracted from leaves. Our recipe for today will be a different type of the salabat drink with even more benefits but we will be giving it a twist so it’s more drinkable for everyone. With our salabat today we will be adding honey and lemon giving it that sweetness and tartness and effectively masks the strong spiciness of the ginger plus the additional benefits of lemon and honey that we already know.Honey Lemon Salabat  Save PrintPrep time Cook time Total time  Serves: 3-4Ingredients4 cups water3 tablespoons honeyjuice from 1 lemon1 thumb sized young fresh ginger, thinly slicedInstructionsPour water in a kettle or a small pot add the ginger bring to a boil and gently simmer in low heat for 2 minutes.Pour liquid a teapot then mix in the honey and lemon juice.Serve while hot.3.5.3208  Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...
