,%20we%20went%20to%20L's%20birthday%20party%20Saturday%20night,%20the%20ribbon%20cutting%20for%20the%20beautiful%20new%20barn%20at%20the%20Coventry%20Farmers%20Market%20(which%20our%20neighbor%20L%20had%20a%20huge%20part%20in%20building)%20was%20Sunday%20morning,%20then%20we%20met%20Amy's%20family%20for%20lunch%20to%20celebrate%20Father's%20Day.%20Sunday%20afternoon%20was%20spent%20prepping%20snacks%20and%20cupcakes%20for%20this%20afternoon's%20book%20club%20meeting.%20So%20when%20Sunday%20evening%20came,%20and%20it%20was%20time%20to%20relax%20and%20watch%20a%20movie,%20we%20wanted%20an%20easy,%20yummy,%20movie-watching%20snack.%20That's%20where%20our%20Secret%20Recipe%20Club%20assignment%20for%20June%20comes%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDanielle%20is%20the%20author%20of%20Delicious%20Existence.%20She%20is%20a%20holistic%20health%20and%20wellness%20coach%20whose%20blog%20promotes%20a%20healthy%20and%20happy%20lifestyle%20in%20which%20raw,%20vegan%20and%20vegetarian%20foods%20play%20a%20huge%20role.%20She%20lists%20her%20recipes%20as%20%22Kitchen%20Adventures%22%20(which%20we%20love!),%20and%20they%20are%20indexed%20by%20picture%20rather%20than%20by%20name.%20It%20was%20fun%20exploring%20the%20site,%20but%20as%20much%20as%20we'd%20love%20to%20say%20we%20made%20something%20really%20healthy%20for%20us,%20we%20didn't.%20You%20know%20us%20better%20than%20that%20by%20now.%20We%20made%20her%20recipe%20for%20homemade%20%22cracker%20jacks.%22%20Perfect%20for%20movie-watching.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20did%20make%20a%20couple%20of%20changes%20to%20Danielle's%20recipe,%20which%20made%20it%20not%20quite%20as%20healthy%20for%20us,%20but%20still%20delicious.%20We%20didn't%20want%20to%20buy%20%22vegan%20buttery%20spread%22%20just%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20tablespoons,%20so%20we%20went%20ahead%20and%20used%20butter,%20which%20(obviously)%20means%20our%20version%20isn't%20vegan.%20And%20when%20we%20went%20to%20make%20it,%20we%20realized%20we%20didn't%20have%20any%20brown%20sugar,%20so%20we%20used%20turbinado%20sugar.%20Also,%20Danielle%20lets%20hers%20cook%20in%20a%20slow%20cooker%20for%20about%2045%20minutes,%20while%20we%20just%20did%20it%20in%20a%20double-boiler,%20only%20cooking%20ours%20for%20about%2015%20minutes.%20We%20wanted%20quick!%20Nonetheless,%20nutty,%20crunchy,%20sticky%20and%20yummy,%20this%20snack%20was%20exactly%20what%20we%20wanted.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHomemade%20Cracker%20Jacks%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20double-boiler,%20over%20medium%20heat,%20place%20the%20sugar,%20honey,%20molsses,%20butter,%20apple%20sauce,%20vanilla%20extract,%20and%20cinnamon.%20Stir%20and%20cook%20for%20about%2015%20minutes,%20until%20well%20combined,%20hot,%20and%20bubbly.%20In%20the%20meantime,%20make%20the%20popcorn%20by%20cooking%20the%20kernels%20in%20the%20coconut%20oil%20(we%20do%20ours%20in%20our%20Whirley%20Popper),%20or%20air-pop%20if%20you%20desire.%20Mix%20the%20cooked%20popcorn%20and%20the%20peanuts%20in%20a%20(very)%20large%20bowl.%20Pour%20the%20sauce%20over%20the%20popcorn%20and%20peanuts%20and%20mix%20until%20well%20coated.%20Cover%20a%20couple%20of%20baking%20sheets%20with%20wax%20paper%20and%20spread%20the%20%22cracker%20jacks%22%20onto%20the%20sheets%20to%20cool%20and%20harden.%20Store%20in%20an%20airtight%20container%20until%20ready%20to%20eat.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
