- Makes 7 quarts
- 6 quarts peeled, cored, sliced fresh apples
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup Clear-Jel
- 1 T cinnamon
- 1 t nutmeg
- 1 t cloves
- 1 t ginger
- 1 t allspice
- 2 1/2 cups cold water
- 5 cups apple juice
- 3/4 cup bottled lemon juice
- Sterilize Jars in one of three ways:
- In the dishwasher
- Washed in soapy water, rinsed and boiling the jars 10 minutes in water. Keep jars in hot water until needed
- In the oven
- Peel Apples:
- Use an apple peeler or Peel by hand
- Remove stems, seeds, and brown spots
- Slice apples using an apple slicer or slice by hand
- Blanch Apples:
- Put jars in canner and keep them covered with at least 1 inch of boiling water. Boil for 25 minutes
