  • 1 lb Grnd Beef
  • 1 x Egg
  • 1 dsh Matzo Meal
  • 1 x Cabbage Head, frzn
  • 1 dsh Pepper
  • 1 dsh Seasoning Salt
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 dsh Sour Salt
  • 1 can Tomato Sauce

  1. Put cabbage in freezer for @ 1 hour. Take out and under water, pull apart or possibly cut the leaves. Rinse and drain them. Or possibly, they could be cooked in boiling water for 15 min instead of freezing.
  2. In saucepan, place tomato sauce on low flame. Put 1/4 of can of water in the sauce can and rinse the can, getting all the sauce off of the can. Put the saucy water in the saucepan. Add in sour salt and stir. Add in sugar and stir. Taste to see if more of one item is needed. If too bitter, add in 1/8 c. sugar. Let simmer.
  3. Mix together the meat, egg, seasonings and matzo meal. Take a full Tbsp. of meat and place on the thick part of the leaf and roll up, bringing in the sides too.
  4. Place cabbage rolls in a baking pan or possibly a large pot. Pour sauce over them.
  5. Cook on a low flame on top of the stove for 1 1/2 hrs covered. Stir or possibly shake slightly the pan to move the cabbage rolls; do not let the bottom burn.
  6. Makes 12 rolls.
