- Butter sides of heavy 2 qt saucepan. Add in sugar, corn syrup, water and salt; mix well. Cook, stirring constantly, till sugar dissolves and mix comes to boiling. Cook to hard ball stage (250 degrees) without stirring. Remove from heat.
- Beat egg whites till soft peaks form. Gradually beat in dry gelatin till stiff peaks form. Pour warm syrup slowly over egg whites, beating constantly on high speed of electric mixer till soft peaks form; add in vanilla. Stir in nuts. Drop from tsp. onto waxed paper. Makes about 60 candies.
