If you’re dairy free, you know how difficult it was to give up yogurt. At least it was for me! Well, now that Silk has come out with Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative in six delicious flavors, I’m not too sad!
I recently had the chance to try out their new dairy free yogurt (which is also vegan!) in two flavors: Black Cherry and Tropical Pineapple. It’s also available in:
- Strawberry
- Blueberry
- Vanilla
- Peach & Mango
Not only is Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative tasty (I especially loved the Black Cherry flavor) but it has 6 grams of plant-powered protein per serving. Unlike many dairy free yogurts that are gritty, Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative has a smooth, creamy texture. It’s made with real fruit, and is free of cholesterol, artificial flavors, and colors.
Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative is also a good source of calcium and vitamin D. The dairy free yogurt is gluten free, carrageenan-free, vegetarian, and low in saturated fat.
Jazzing up your Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative experience
While Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative tastes great on its own, I like to jazz up my morning breakfast or snacks by adding what I call “healthy mix-ins” such as goodies I may have in the pantry like:
Many of these I have leftover from healthy baking, but use your imagination because the sky’s the limit. Just be careful not to go to nuts with, well, the nuts and all the rest of the mix-ins! That’s because what goes from a healthy snack to a hearty breakfast, can go to a calorie laden super heavy meal. You may want to use a tablespoon and measure out your mix-in portions, then put your bags of nuts and dried fruit away, so you aren’t tempted to add more.
For fun, you can layer your mix-ins in a glass ice cream parfait dish for a pretty effect – the kids will love that! Or just sprinkle them over your yogurt alternative and then mix them in with a spoon. I love the crunch these mix-ins bring and find the combination of creamy yogurt alternative and nuts or cereal so much more satisfying.
During the warm summer months, blend your mix-ins with your Silk Dairy-Free Yogurt Alternative, place in the freezer overnight, and you have healthy frozen dessert!
