Рецепт Healthy Choice Steaming Entrees
It’s been over a year since I first reviewed Healthy Choice All Natural Entrees. My son Nathan still loves heating up one for breakfast (!) or a snack. Yet, not all Healthy Choice meals are equal. I wasn’t crazy about Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers, so when I tried the new Healthy Choice Steaming Entrees at BlogHer 10, I was a bit wary. These couldn’t be tasty – and if they were they’d be made from all sort of scary, unnatural ingredients.
So when Mom Central sent me a few samples to try out, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were they much better than the Cafe Steamers, but they had a decent – though not perfect – ingredient list. Also, they were much easier to cook. You just popped them in the microwave and cooked for the recommended time. (Do not peel back or puncture the film.) Then you let it stand for two minutes before eating.
Roasted Chicken Verde
The Roasted Chicken Verde is a typical, healthy frozen meal – chicken and vegetables with south-of-the-border seasonings. Everyone from Lean Cuisine to Weight Watchers Smart Ones has a similar one. I was disappointed with the mushy rice, but the chicken and vegetables were plentiful and perfectly done.
Nutritionally speaking, the Roasted Chicken Verde was excellent. Only 240 calories, 3.5g of fat, 14g of protein and 4 Weight Watchers POINTS. Ingredients wise, it had good things like brown rice, chicken tenderloins, crushed tomatillos, poblano peppers, cliantro, lime juice, corn, and red peppers. I wasn’t thrilled to see that soy protein product (isolated soy protein, modified food starch, carrageenan, soy lecithin) was used to flavor the chicken tenderloins, however. Also, there was 500 mg of sodium, or about 20% of your recommended daily serving – not bad.
Since I didn’t like the taste left in my mouth after eating it (too spicy!) I wouldn’t buy this one again.
Chicken Romano Fresca
Now this one I liked! I normally hate pasta and chicken together (it skeeves me), but this frozen healthy meal would be one I’d purchase again. Due to the delicious Romano cheese and butter glaze and the whole-grain pasta noodles, the Chicken Romano Fresca tastes like something I’d make as a decadent special treat – not a low calorie dish!
It has 230 calories, 5g of fat, 4g of fiber, and a whopping 16g of protein – but only 4 Weight Watchers POINTS. Again, the chicken tenderloins were flavored with soy protein product, but it also was made with whole grain wheat flour, broccoli, red pepper and real butter and Romano cheese. High maltose corn syrup is used in the garlic puree, but it’s way down on the ingredient list.
So again, not perfect, but delicious and low in POINTS and calories, and high in protein.
