%20Make%20a%20pasta%20dish%20and%20blog%20about%20it%20by%20Thursday,%20September%2010th.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2)%20In%20your%20blog%20post,%20make%20sure%20to%20include%20a%20mention%20and%20link%20to%20Pasta%20Presto%20Nights%20and%20to%20this%20post%20on%20The%20Crispy%20Cook%20so%20we%20can%20spread%20the%20Pasta%20Love%20around.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20my%20contribution%20to%20this%20week's%20Pasta%20Presto%20Nights,%20I%20sought%20inspiration%20from%20my%20garden.%20It's%20late%20summer%20and%20the%20weather%20has%20been%20unusually%20wet%20and%20with%20temperature%20variations%20all%20over%20the%20map,%20so%20the%20tomatoes%20were%20totally%20stressed%20out%20and%20afflicted%20with%20blight%20early%20in%20the%20season.%20My%20only%20remaining%20tomato%20babies%20are%20some%20yellow%20Brandywines%20(though%20they%20are%20watery%20and%20mushy%20this%20year%20from%20all%20that%20rain%20excess)%20and%20some%20grape%20tomatoes.%20I%20gathered%20about%201%20pint%20of%20these%20grape%20tomatoes%20and%20a%20handful%20of%20basil,%20a%20fennel%20bulb%20and%20some%20of%20our%20first%20homegrown%20garlic%20and%20came%20up%20with%20a%20really%20luscious%20pasta%20salad%20to%20bring%20to%20a%20gathering%20of%20friends.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20our%20gluten-free%20noodle%20option,%20I%20used%20a%20bag%20of%20Sam%20Mills%20corn%20pasta.%20When%20they%20recently%20had%20some%20of%20this%20pasta%20on%20sale%20for%20$1%20a%20bag%20at%20Ocean%20State%20Job%20Lot%20in%20Ballston%20Spa,%20we%20stocked%20up.%20It%20has%20a%20nice%20golden%20color%20and%20stands%20up%20well%20when%20cooking,%20so%20I%20used%20this%20brand,%20but%20you%20could%20use%20any%20shaped%20pasta%20for%20this%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20step%20is%20to%20roast%20up%20some%20garlic%20and%20fennel.%20I%20put%20a%20whole%20head%20of%20trimmed%20garlic%20(cut%20off%20the%20tops%20to%20open%20up%20vents%20to%20let%20the%20oven%20heat%20in)%20in%20an%20oven%20dish%20with%20my%20trimmed%20fennel%20bulb,%20drizzled%20them%20with%20olive%20oil%20and%20covered%20the%20pan%20with%20foil.%20They%20were%20baked%20at%20350%20degrees%20F%20for%201%20hour.%20Let%20cool%20and%20squeeze%20roasted%20garlic%20from%20four%20of%20the%20cloves%20and%20reserve.%20Chop%20roasted%20fennel%20coarsely%20and%20reserve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20pasta%20and%20rinse%20with%20cold%20water.%20Drain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToss%20pasta,%20tomatoes,%20mozzarella%20balls%20(I%20cut%20them%20in%20half%20to%20extend%20their%20goodness%20throughout%20the%20dish%20and%20because%20my%20youngest%20likes%20to%20pluck%20them%20out%20ahead%20of%20serving)%20basil%20and%20fennel.%20Whisk%20roasted%20garlic%20in%20with%20vinegar%20and%20olive%20oil.%20Season%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper%20and%20pour%20dressing%20over%20pasta%20salad.%20Toss%20gently%20and%20let%20chill%20until%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%208%20servings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELooking%20forward%20to%20YOUR%20delicious%20pasta%20entries!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
