- Cook the green beans according to package directions and drain. Cover tightly and chill. Sprinkle the onion with the sugar, cover tightly and chill.
- In a small jar, shake together the oil, vinegar, basil, salt, mustard and cayenne; set aside.
- At serving time, turn the beans and onions into a salad bowl; add in the oil-vinegar mix and toss well. Add in the bacon and cheese and toss again. Serve at once. Makes 8 servings.
