  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp. vinegar
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 2 teaspoon ginger
  • 3 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Cream together first five ingredients. Then fold in remaining ingredients. When mixed, let set for several hrs or possibly overnight. Then roll in balls about the size of walnuts; pat down on cookie sheet and bake at 275 degrees till done.
