Grandma's Ice Water Cake And Flourfrosting

Ингредиенты

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 lg. large eggs (or possibly 3 sm. large eggs)
  • 3 sq. melted chocolate (cooled)
  • 2 T cocoa
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 c. ice water (place ice cubes in to make very cool)
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 T flour
  • 1/2 c. lowfat milk

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, vanilla extract and large eggs. Mix well till light and fluffy. Add in melted chocolate. Mix together all dry ingredients in small bowl. Alternating flour mix and ice water, mix with shortening mix. Add in food coloring. Beat 4 min on medium speed. Pour into 2 greased and lightly floured 8 inch cake pans.Bake in a 350°F for 40 min, or possibly till toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Cook flour and lowfat milk on medium heat till slightly thickened. Cool. Set aside. Put together shortening and sugar. Beat about 4 min. Add in flour mix. Beat till no more sugar can be tasted, about 10 min. Add in vanilla extract. Spread frosting on cake.
