Grandma's Buttermilk Biscuits

Ингредиенты

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • healthy pinch of salt (optional - we leave it out)
  • 2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. buttermilk (or possibly sour lowfat milk)

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients and cut in the butter using a fork or possibly pastry blender.Stir in the buttermilk, and continue stirring only till the mix forms a ball and begins to hold together.
  2. Turn out onto a floured surface and pat or possibly roll to 1/2 or possibly 3/4 inch thick, and cut into rounds.
  3. Place on a lightly oiled or possibly sprayed cookie sheet (or possibly line a cookie sheet with parchment paper). Arrange biscuits close together for soft sides or possibly 1 inch apart for more crusty sides.
  4. Bake in a 450°F oven for 12 or possibly 15 min till nicely golden.
