  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening, softened
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • Flour to roll (3-5 c.)
  • 2 teaspoon soda

  1. Cream shortening and add in sugar and egg; beat. Add in molasses, salt, warm water. Next add in flour and soda last. Mix quickly. Dough should be soft but stiff sufficient to roll. Refrigerate1 hour. Meanwhile, make the filling.
