%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20live%20in%20Fairfield%20County,%20CT,%20and%20you%20catch%20a%20winter%20cold,%20chances%20are%20you've%20treated%20yourself%20to%20Aux%20Delices'%20Ginger%20Tea.%20Really,%20there's%20nothing%20more%20soothing%20and%20delicious,%20when%20I%20am%20out%20and%20about%20on%20a%20chilly%20Fall%20or%20Winter%20day.%20This%20tea%20is%20definitely%20%22food%20crush%22%20status.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20past%20week,%20my%20neighbor%20and%20I%20ran%20into%20one%20another%20at%20Aux%20Delices,%20both%20of%20us%20under%20the%20weather,%20and%20each%20of%20us%20having%20driven%20to%20the%20next%20town%20for%20some%20of%20this%20liquid%20gold.%20Now,%20I%20sometimes%20make%20a%20normal%20ginger-lemon%20tea%20at%20home,%20but%20there's%20something%20special%20about%20Aux%20Delices'.%20So%20today%20I%20decided%20to%20master%20the%20brew%20at%20home...%20No%20sooner%20had%20a%20filled%20my%20big%20stock%20pot,%20when%20there%20was%20a%20knock%20at%20the%20back%20door.%20And%20there%20stood%20my%20neighbor,%20with%20a%20large%20cup%20of%20the%20goodness%20in%20hand.%20%7BLittle%20did%20she%20know,%20I%20had%20planned%20to%20surprise%20her,%20with%20a%20tub%20of%20my%20homemade%20brew!%7D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20recipe%20was%20very%20simple.%20The%20only%20difference%20between%20my%20normal%20ginger-lemon%20tea%20and%20Aux%20Delices'%20appears%20to%20be%20copious%20amounts%20of%20honey.%20The%20labor%20intensive%20part%20was%20grating%20the%20fresh%20ginger.%20I%20grated%20about%206%22%20worth...then%20got%20tired%20of%20grating%20and%20just%20chopped%20it%20into%20bits%20I'd%20strain%20out%20later.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20zested%20and%20squeezed%20a%20bunch%20of%20fresh%20lemons.%20For%20a%20soup%20pot%20filled%20with%20about%2012+%20cups%20of%20water,%20I%20added%206%20zested%20and%20juiced%20lemons.%20If%20I'd%20had%20them,%20I%20would%20have%20added%20a%20few%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20I%20added%20some%20honey...%20I%20started%20with%20about%201/2%20cup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20I%20moved%20on%20to%20another%20jar%20in%20my%20pantry,%20and%20added%20at%20least%20another%20full%20cup.%20So,%20this%20brew%20required%20a%20lot%20of%20honey%20to%20get%20to%20the%20taste%20of%20Aux%20Delices'%20Ginger%20Tea!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20gave%20everything%20a%20quick%20stir,%20and%20let%20it%20simmer%20for%20about%20an%20hour%20on%20medium-low.%20It%20reduced%20by%20about%201/3.%20It's%20delicious%20%7Band%20potent%7D%20as%20is,%20but%20since%20I%20now%20know%20how%20much%20honey%20is%20in%20the%20brew,%20I've%20been%20drinking%20it%20all%20afternoon%20by%20filling%20my%20tea%20cup%20with%201/2%20of%20the%20homemade%20concentrate%20+%201/2%20water%20from%20our%20instant%20hot%20faucet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBest%20part%20of%20concocting%20this%20at%20home%20%7Baside%20from%20the%20fact%20that%20I%20don't%20have%20to%20drive%20a%20town%20over%20to%20fill%20my%20cup%7D?%20Leaving%20a%20few%20tubs-o-joy%20on%20my%20neighbor's%20back%20porch.%20For%20those%20who%20want%20the%20recipe%20for%20the%20chicken%20soup%20base%20pictured%20above%20too,%20that%20was%20simply%20this%20recipe%20and%20this%20last%20time%20I%20made%20a%20big%20batch%20I%20made%20it%20with%20rotisserie%20chickens%20(that%20still%20had%20the%20meat%20on%20them)%20so%20the%20frozen%20soup%20has%20shredded%20chicken%20in%20each%20container.%20When%20I--%20or%20my%20neighbor--%20reheats%20it,%20I%20just%20add%20some%20more%20fresh%20veggies%20(celery,%20carrots,%20etc)%20while%20it's%20defrosting%20in%20a%20saucepan,%20then%20bring%20it%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20cook%20noodles%20in%20the%20broth%20before%20serving.%20Easy%20way%20to%20get%20the%20best%20chicken-noodle%20soup%20ever!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
