2/3 cup sugar

2 large tart apples- peeled, cored, and cut in eighths

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. I used an 8" square pan. Sprinkle sugar in the pan and place it over a burner over medium heat. Use pot holders and tongs to handle the pan. Allow the sugar to melt and turn golden brown. Stir in the apples till coated (the sugar may harden- don't worry. Set pan aside
