  • 2 lrg Onions, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
  • 1 can (28 ounce) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 can (14 ounce) tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 c. Apple cider vinegar
  • 4 Tbsp. Dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. Paprika
  • 3 Tbsp. Grnd New Mexican red chile
  • 4 Tbsp. Barbados Molasses
  • 1 c. Orange juice
  • 1/2 c. Yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce

  1. This is actually my variation of Chris Schlesinger's Basic All American BBQ Sauce from Thrill of The Grill. It is not a real sweet sauce like a Kansas City style.
  2. In a large pot, saute/fry the onion in oil till tender.
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce to lowest possible heat and simmer uncovered for 4 hrs.
  4. Puree in a food processor or possibly blender. I use a hand held blender and puree it right in the pot.
