%20and%20thought%20it%20was%20about%20time%20I%20shared%20it%20here%20because%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20great%20way%20to%20preserve%20the%20fresh%20flavors%20of%20summer%20and%20then%20enjoy%20them%20all%20year%20long%20in%20lots%20of%20different%20recipes.%20%20It%E2%80%99s%20so%20quick%20and%20easy,%20you%20can%20feel%20really%20productive%20with%20your%20preserving%20skills.%20%20And%20I%E2%80%99m%20all%20about%20easy%20things%20that%20make%20me%20feel%20productive!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20always%20used%20ice%20cube%20trays%20to%20make%20these,%20or%20these%20silicone%20baking%20trays%20(which%20work,%20but%20they%E2%80%99re%20floppy,%20so%20you%20need%20to%20set%20them%20in%20a%20larger%20pan%20and%20then%20place%20it%20in%20the%20freezer.%20%20They%20also%20have%20rather%20small%20capacity%20per%20square).%20%20A%20few%20weeks%20ago%20I%20ran%20to%20the%20store%20to%20stock%20up%20on%20more%20ice%20cube%20trays%20and%20ironically,%20they%20were%20on%20the%20same%20aisle%20as%20the%20canning%20and%20preserving%20stuff%20and%20I%20noticed%20these%20Frozen%20Herb%20Starter%20Trays.%20%20I%20had%20no%20idea%20they%20even%20made%20these,%20so%20I%20bought%20some%20and%20they%20work%20awesome.%20%20I%20love%20how%20deep%20the%20squares%20are,%20the%20silicone%20makes%20it%20so%20they%20pop%20out%20really%20easily,%20and%20I%20like%20that%20they%20have%20a%20lid.%20%20You%20can%20order%20them%20on%20Amazon,%20or%20just%20use%20a%20ice%20cube%20tray%20lined%20in%20plastic%20wrap%20for%20this%20recipe.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStart%20with%20any%20herb,%20or%20combination%20of%20herbs%20you%20like.%20%20Make%20sure%20they%E2%80%99re%20washed%20and%20cleaned,%20and%20then%20snip%20them%20up.%20%20I%20tend%20to%20use%20the%20same%20combo%20in%20most%20of%20my%20recipes,%20so%20I%20just%20mixed%20fresh%20basil,%20oregano,%20and%20rosemary%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20use%20herbs%20alone,%20or%20add%20other%20flavor%20components.%20%20My%20favorite%20combination%20with%20fresh%20herbs%20is%20garlic%20and%20lemon,%20so%20I%E2%80%99m%20adding%20fresh%20minced%20garlic,%20and%20some%20fresh%20zest%20from%20the%20lemon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20actually%20stuff%20quite%20a%20large%20quantity%20of%20herbs%20into%20a%20small%20space,%20so%20you%20can%20make%20these%20as%20full%20as%20you%20like.%20%20Just%20remember%20that%201%20teaspoon%20of%20a%20dried%20herb%20equals%201%20tablespoon%20of%20the%20fresh%20one,%20so%20you%20can%20go%20heavy%20handed%20on%20the%20fresh%20when%20you%20think%20about%20using%20them%20in%20your%20favorite%20recipes.%20%20They%E2%80%99re%20not%20as%20strong%20as%20dried%20herbs.%20%20I%20just%20toss%20in%20a%20little%20garlic%20and%20lemon%20right%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20next%20step%20is%20to%20encase%20the%20herbs%20in%20a%20cooking%20liquid,%20and%20you%20can%20use%20one%20of%204%20things.%20%20Aside%20from%20water,%20you%20can%20use%20broth,%20melted%20butter,%20or%20olive%20oil.%20%20All%20of%20them%20work%20well,%20and%20are%20well%20suited%20for%20different%20purposes%20when%20they%E2%80%99re%20all%20finished.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20your%20cubes%20are%20filled,%20add%20in%20your%20desired%20liquid%20%20You%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20to%20be%20adding%20copious%20amounts%20of%20butter%20or%20oil.%20%20If%20you%20stuff%20the%20cubes%20with%20herbs%20and%20flavorings,%20you%20really%20only%20need%20a%20couple%20of%20teaspoons%20of%20liquid,%20which%20is%20a%20great%20amount%20for%20most%20recipes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99m%20using%20our%20Rosemary%20olive%20oil%20in%20this%20batch.%20%20Kate%20and%20I%20have%20mentioned%20that%20of%20all%20of%20our%20specialty%20oils,%20the%20rosemary%20is%20our%20favorite.%20%20I%E2%80%99m%20pretty%20sure%20we%20could%20both%20drink%20shots%20of%20it,%20but%20don%E2%80%99t%20tell%20anyone%20that.%20%20This%20flavor%20used%20to%20only%20be%20available%20in%20our%20Flavor%20Variety%20Pack,%20but%20we%20currently%20have%20larger%20bottles%20in%20stock%20that%20you%20can%20buy%20on%20their%20own.%20%20Grab%20some%20before%20they%E2%80%99re%20gone!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPretty%20much%20ANY%20of%20our%20olive%20oils%20would%20be%20amazing%20in%20these%20cubes;%20this%20is%20a%20perfect%20use%20for%20them,%20easily%20adding%20a%20burst%20of%20flavor%20to%20your%20cooking.%20%20Basil%20and%20Rosemary%20are%20obvious%20choices,%20for%20their%20herby-ness,%20but%20try%20chili%20for%20a%20little%20kick,%20or%20lemon%20for%20a%20hint%20of%20brightness%20or%20garlic%20for%20deep%20flavor%20even%20without%20the%20added%20fresh%20garlic.%20%20Bacon%20would%20even%20work%20here%20with%20the%20right%20combo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20a%20little%20in,%20and%20then%20gently%20press%20herbs%20down%20so%20they%E2%80%99re%20all%20submerged.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20freezing%20you%20can%20pop%20them%20in%20freezer%20containers%20or%20bags,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20them%20use%20them%20straight%20from%20the%20freezer%20for%20fresh%20herb%20flavor%20all%20year%20long.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESome%20of%20my%2
