Рецепт Fried Rice with Green Garlic; the update
by Katie Zeller

I finished spring cleaning the house…. Now I can start on my files.

I made this simple fried rice to go with the Miso Tuna I made a few weeks ago.

Anyone who has read this blog for awhile knows I love green garlic.

For anyone new, who isn’t familiar with green garlic, allow me to explain.

Green garlic is immature garlic, picked before the bulbs are formed. It looks like a green onions and has a mild, sweet garlic flavor. It’s all usable, including the dark green top.

It’s only available for a few weeks in the spring.

Fried Rice with Green Garlic

Total time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Cook rice in stock until done. Remove from heat and uncover.

Heat oils in a large nonstick skillet. Add green garlic and sauté until tender.

Add rice, soy sauce and stir well to combine.

Stir-fry for 3 – 5 minutes longer. Serve.

Work continues….

The floor is almost finished, well, except for the varnishing, of course.

There is going to be a bench / window seat tucked into he little alcove in the corner.

The alcove is there so that we could have a window in this bedroom. On the other side of the wall is the guest bathroom…. without a window. In a house this old with walls this thick, one works with what is already there.

He also put a fence around my herb garden.

The hope is that it keeps the bunnies out. They don’t eat any of the herbs, but they do like to dig.

While I was tidying up after the work I saw two of the prettiest, big, bright green lizards we have around here. They’re very shy. I’ve only seen four or five in all the years we’ve lived here.

Apparently they like my herb garden – I saw them again today.
