- For the Cinnamon Syrup: Combine sugar, dark corn syrup, cinnamon and water in a small saucepan, stirring till well-mixed. Bring the mix to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 min, then remove from heat and stir in evaporated lowfat milk; set aside.
- For the French Toast: In a medium bowl, whisk together egg, egg whites, lowfat milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and baking pwdr. Place slices of white bread in a shallow bowl and pour egg mix on top, covering proportionately.
- Heat oil and butter in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat till butter is melted and foaming slightly. Cook French toast 2 or possibly 3 slices at a time till brown, 2 or possibly 3 min, turning once to brown both sides. Serve hot with Cinnamon Syrup.
