%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%E2%80%99re%20new%20to%20the%20blog%20then%20you%20may%20be%20thinking%E2%80%A6uh%E2%80%A6okay?%20Good%20for%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBUT%20this%20is%20good%20for%20me!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFour%20years%20ago,%20I%20was%20diagnosed%20with%20Celiac%20Disease%20AND%20I%20was%20in%20TERRIBLE%20shape.%20High%20cholesterol,%20low%20good%20cholesterol,%20and%20my%20triglycerides%20were%20thru%20the%20roof!!%20My%20doctor%20told%20me%20I%20had%20metabolic%20syndrome%20and%20that%20I%20had%20some%20big%20changes%20to%20make,%20or%20I%20was%20WELL%20on%20my%20way%20to%20diabetes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20them.%20Well%E2%80%A6some%20of%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20health%20improved,%20but%20the%20numbers%20only%20improved%20a%20little%20at%20first.%20So%20this%20past%20year%20I%20kicked%20it%20in%20to%20high%20gear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20March%20of%202011,%20I%20joined%20the%20YMCA.%20I%20started%20working%20out%20at%20least%20four%20days%20a%20week,%20and%20I%20met%20the%20Arc%20Trainer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%5E%5EThe%20Sweat%20Monster%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20cut%20down%20my%20potato%20consumption%20to%20once%20a%20week.%20(Twice%20if%20I%E2%80%99m%20really%20good)%20Potatoes%20are%20starch,%20starch%20becomes%20sugar,%20sugar%20can%20become%20fat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20cut%20out%20red%20meat%20almost%20entirely%20because%20of%20the%20fat%20(and%20I%20only%20buy%20it%20at%20the%20Farmer%E2%80%99s%20Market).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20upped%20my%20veggie%20intake,%20and%20I%20upped%20my%20protein%20and%20fiber.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20drank%20MORE%20water%20and%20WAY%20LESS%20Redbridges.%20WAY%20LESS!%20I%20went%20from%20a%206%20pack%20a%20week%20to%20less%20than%20one%20single%20beer%20a%20week.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20tried%20to%20eat%20smaller%20portions%20most%20of%20the%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20switched%20from%20sweet%20tea%20to%20un-sweet%20tea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20did%20NOT%20feel%20guilty%20for%20anything%20I%20ate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20lost%2015%20pounds%20in%20one%20year.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20you%20know%20what?%20It%20didn%E2%80%99t%20feel%20like%20that%20much%20change.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn%E2%80%99t%20eliminate%20anything%20huge.%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20make%20a%20big%20deal%20out%20of%20limiting%20this%20or%20that.%20I%20just%20made%20little%20changes%20to%20my%20everyday%20habits.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENope.%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20see%20changes%20right%20away.%20I%20only%20lost%20a%20pound%20a%20month%E2%80%A6but%20those%20are%20pounds%20that%20I%20know%20I%E2%80%99ll%20keep%20off.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYep.%20I%20have%20WAY%20more%20energy.%20WAY%20more%20happiness%20and%20optimism.%20WAY%20more%20room%20in%20my%20pants.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20still%20have%2015%20pounds%20to%20go%20but%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20really%20too%20worried%20about%20that%20number.%20I%20want%20to%20be%20two%20pants%20size%20smaller%20and%20have%20a%20wee%20bit%20more%20ab%20definition.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECan%20I%20do%20it?%20Hell%20yes%20I%20can.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20received%20my%20test%20results%20from%20the%20doctor%20yesterday%20I%20felt%20so%20empowered.%20MY%20HEALTH%20is%20in%20MY%20HANDS.%20It%20sounds%20silly,%20but%20I%20had%20never%20really%20felt%20like%20that%20before.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20about%20you?%20Have%20you%20had%20your%20own%20health%20triumphs?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
