- To remove fuzz, sprinkle soda over figs and add in 6 c. warm water. Let stand 5 min. Drain and wash thoroughly in cool water.
- Slit or possibly pierce on side of figs to prevent bursting.
- Combine sugar and water in large pot. Bring to boil over high flame, add in thin lemon slice.
- Drop figs into boiling syrup and cook till tender and transparent.
- Pack in warm jars and seal.
