%20poor%20and%20b.)%20in%20possession%20of%20such%20flavorings%20as%20butternut,%20almond,%20and%20black%20walnut,%20plus%20a%20few%20others,%20making%20vanilla%20seem,%20well,%20a%20little%20vanilla%20in%20comparison%20to%20all%20of%20my%20other%20more%20exotic%20flavorings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20frosting%20involved%20a%20cup%20of%20shortening,%202%20tbsp%20milk,%201%20tsp%20almond%20flavoring,%20and%20a%20metric%20ton%20of%20powdered%20sugar.%20Technically%20it%20called%20for%201/2%20cup%20shortening%20and%201/2%20cup%20margarine,%20but%20I%20was%20getting%20low%20on%20margarine,%20and%20not%20wanting%20to%20go%20to%20the%20grocery%20store%20more%20then%20was%20strictly%20necessary,%20decided%20to%20go%20all%20out%20and%20just%20use%20shortening.%20The%20frosting%20was%E2%80%A6stiff.%20Very%20stiff.%20It%20caused%20the%20various%20objects%20I%20used%20to%20dispense%20it%20to%20spontaneously%20spurt%20all%20over%20my%20hands%20several%20times%20(both%20cookie%20gun%20and%20bag-o-frosting).%20So%20I%20caved,%20added%20more%20milk,%20and%20it%20flowed%20much%20better.%20I%20sometimes%20have%20a%20hard%20time%20with%20frosting,%20and%20I%20think%20it%E2%80%99s%20because%20I%20pay%20too%20much%20attention%20to%20a%20recipe%20and%20not%20enough%20attention%20to%20the%20actual%20consistency%20of%20said%20frosting.%20I%20end%20up%20forgetting%20all%20of%20the%20gazillion%20issues%20I%E2%80%99ve%20had%20in%20the%20past%20with%20frosting%20that%20just%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20gooey%20enough,%20and%20neglect%20to%20add%20enough%20milk%20until%20the%20frosting%20has%20squirted%20all%20over%20my%20hand/counter/face/cat%20a%20few%20times.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyhow,%20I%20made%20some%20stars,%20and%20being%20too%20lazy%20to%20roll%20out%20the%20dough%20a%20second%20time,%20I%20made%20some%20standard%20circles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20let%20me%20tell%20you,%20there%E2%80%99s%20a%20reason%20the%20recipe%20says%20to%20cook%20for%206-11%20minutes.%20It%E2%80%99s%20more%20like%206%20minutes%20for%20uber-thin%20cookies%20that%20you%20roll%20out,%20and%20several%20minutes%20higher%20for%20big%20fat%20cookies.%20Silly%20me%20forgot%20this%20and%20many%20of%20the%20first%20batch%20(consisting%20of%20the%20thinly%20rolled%20stars)%20were%20a%20tad%20crispier%20then%20I%20would%20have%20liked.%20The%20second%20pan%20contained%20both%20stars%20and%20hand-formed%20cookies,%20and%20in%20the%20interest%20of%20having%20the%20stars%20not%20burn,%20the%20hand-formed%20cookies%20were%20a%20little%20less%20cooked%20then%20they%20probably%20should%20have%20been.%20This%20is%20all%20good%20with%20me,%20though,%20as%20slightly%20undercooked%20cookies%20have%20the%20bonus%20of%20being%20soft.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyhow,%20not%20too%20many%20cookies%20were%20burnt,%20and%20the%20burnt%20ones%20were%20for%20the%20most%20part%20covered%20with%20enough%20icing%20that%20one%20didn%E2%80%99t%20notice%20the%20burnt%20taste%20too%20much.%20And%20as%20much%20as%20I%20do%20like%20having%20different%20cookie%20shapes,%20it%E2%80%99s%20always%20a%20pain%20to%20actually%20make%20said%20shapes.%20A%20little%20while%20ago,%20I%20got%20rid%20of%20all%20of%20my%20cookie%20cutters%20except%20for%20the%20super-easy%20one,%20as%20what%E2%80%99s%20the%20point%20of%20having%20angels%20and%20turkeys%20and%20such%20when%20their%20arms%20and%20heads%20always%20break%20up%20every%20time%20you%20try%20to%20peel%20them%20off%20the%20rolling%20surface.%20As%20a%20result,%20I%20have%20star%20shapes,%20I%20have%20a%20heart%20shape,%20and%20I%20think%20I%20also%20have%20a%20pumpkin%20shape,%20and%20maaybe%20one%20or%20two%20more.%20And%20that%E2%80%99s%20it.%20Covers%20all%20of%20the%20major%20cookie-making%20holidays%20except%20Easter,%20and%20for%20Easter%20I%20can%20just%20shape%20some%20egg%20shapes%20with%20my%20freaking%20hands,%20dangit!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20ended%20up%20looking%20vaguely%20Easter-like%20anyhow,%20what%20with%20the%20pastel%20green%20and%20all,%20but%20they%20are%20delicious,%20and%20that%E2%80%99s%20all%20that%20really%20matters.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20icons%20link%20to%20social%20bookmarking%20sites%20where%20readers%20can%20share%20and%20discover%20new%20web%20pages.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMinty%20Christmas%20Sugar%20Cookies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESugar%20Cookies%20with%20Wheat%20Flour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGuest%20Post:%20Good%20Old-Fashioned%20Chocolate%20Chip%20Cookies%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
