Fancy Family Crispy Treats

Have you noticed individually packed rice treats in your store? I have seen these they look lovely, but they can set you back almost 4 dollars a treat. What makes these different than your everyday variety? A slightly different recipe and these treats have toppings.

PAM Cooking Spray leaves *99% less residue than margarine or bargain-brand cooking sprays too. (* vs. leading cooking sprays (except olive oil), after spraying on glass bakeware, baking at 400°F for 30 min, cooling, and then washing in standard home dishwasher with detergent and repeating 4 times).

As you know I am all for recreating recipes at home, when I saw these in the store, I knew I had to try to duplicate this recipe. With a couple of added ingredients, you can recreate these treats at home. For this recipe, I am using chocolate candies, but they sell these fancy treats with extra Marshmallows, drizzled chocolate and more. You can let your imagination run wild.

I think these would be great as a gift, or even when you want to show people you care. When these toppings are added, these make beautiful treats. You may even wish to take these to a potluck. I like to use PAM Cooking Spray in my recipe in two areas. I light to coat the pan with a light spray before I begin making the treats because this keeps the marshmallows from sticking to the side of the pan. I also like to use PAM Cooking Spray to grease the pan, because these treats never stick when I use it.

What makes this recipe special?

This recipe has five tablespoons of butter for extra richness, and 1 and a half bags (10-ounce size). So these treats are richer, and they much more flavorful. I like to use PAM Cooking Spray on these, as they help these glide right out of the pan when you cut them. I think the real key on these is cutting them slightly larger than your everyday treat.

Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press cereal gently into the pan and make sure you spread out evenly. Sprinkle the chocolate candies onto the top. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator. Let the treats firm up for about 1 hour before cutting.
