%20or%20even%E2%80%A6oh%20my%E2%80%A6BEFORE%20the%20Internet%20(well,%20as%20we%20know%20it%20with%20pretty%20pictures%20and%20all)?%20Yes,%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20recipe%20I%20love%20to%20share%20with%20friends%20and%20family%20mostly%20through%20the%20making%20of%20a%20very%20simple%20sundae;%20little%20is%20needed%20beyond%20ice%20cream%20and%20this%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20what%E2%80%99s%20not%20acceptable%20about%20that?%20Well,%20it%20was%20just%20last%20year%20that%20I%20finally%20revised%20what%20was%20a%20text%20only%20recipe%20on%20this%20site%20and%20did%20that%20post%20with%20a%20photo%20to%20better%20share%20it%20with%20readers.%20I%20suppose%20that%20instead%20of%20posting%20the%20same%20recipe%20with%20a%20twist%20that%20I%20could%20just%20go%20back%20to%20that%20older%20post%20and%20include%20some%20revisions%20but%20I%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20do%20that%E2%80%A6if%20you%20knew%20the%20difference%20you%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20want%20me%20to%20do%20that!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%E2%80%99s%20the%20big%20deal%20then?%20One%20word.%20Espresso.%20I%20think%20Espresso%20could%20actually%20be%20categorized%20as%20%E2%80%98a%20magical%20powder%20that%20when%20added%20to%20chocolate%20becomes%20an%20elixer%20of%20the%20Gods%E2%80%98%20and%20this%20sauce%20is%20the%20perfect%20example%20of%20marrying%20the%20smokey,%20bitter%20and%20rich%20components%20of%20coffee%20and%20chocolate.%20Even%20if%20added%20in%20very%20small%20amounts,%20there%20is%20something%20about%20any%20type%20of%20coffee%20the%20brings%20a%20more%20intense%20flavor%20to%20chocolate%20because%20they%20are%20so%20compatible,%20but%20added%20in%20enough%20quantity%20to%20actually%20discern%20that%20taste,%20well,%20it%E2%80%99s%20one%20of%20my%20favorites%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20just%20a%20bit%20verklempt%20that%20I%20never%20considered%20this%20before!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGranted,%20I%20also%20added%20some%20toasted%20walnuts%20instead%20of%20pecans%20as%20stated%20in%20the%20original%20recipe%20and%20I%20should%20have%20known%20that%20would%20up%20the%20ante%20for%20me%20too.%20Over%20the%20past%20couple%20of%20years%20I%E2%80%99ve%20become%20so%20enamored%20with%20walnuts%20in%20a%20new%20way%20and%20that%20newness%20is%20due%20completely%20and%20without%20question%20to%20my%20small,%20countertop%20toaster%20oven.%20If%20%20you%20are%20not%20in%20the%20habit%20of%20toasting%20nuts%20that%20you%20add%20to%20foods,%20then%20you%20must%20start%20now!%20The%20difference%20is%20remarkable%20and%20now%20without%20toasting%20they%20have%20an%20almost%20raw%20taste;%20with%20walnuts%20in%20particular%20that%20difference%20has%20completely%20changed%20how%20much%20I%20love%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20seems%20that%20summer%20is%20making%20it%E2%80%99s%20presence%20known%20much%20sooner%20all%20over%20the%20country%20so%20while%20I%20would%20normally%20not%20have%20served%20this%20to%20friends%20until%20June,%20we%20enjoyed%20this%20simple%20but%20decadent%20sundae%20on%20the%20patio%20this%20past%20weekend.%20It%E2%80%99s%20already%20summer%20where%20you%20are%20too,%20right?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEspresso%20Version%20of%20Elmer%E2%80%99s%20Gold%20Brick%20Sundae%20with%20Toasted%20Walnuts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAuthor:%20Barbara%20Kiebel%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20type:%20Dessert%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20butter,%20chocolate%20chips%20and%20evaporated%20milk%20in%20the%20top%20of%20a%20double%20boiler%20over%20simmering%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20and%20stir%20until%20melted%20and%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20heat%20and%20fold%20in%20the%20espresso%20powder%20and%20the%20chopped%20nuts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EScoop%20ice%20cream%20into%20bowl%20and%20dollop%20chocolate%20sauce%20over%20ice%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETop%20with%20whipped%20cream%20and%20garnish%20with%20a%20strawberry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.2.5%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
