%20%20for%20some%20tasty%20BBQ%20treats%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20first%20caught%20my%20eye%20was%20some%20Lincolnshire%20Red%20Steaks%20from%20the%20Thorpe%20Latimer%20stall%20and%20their%20herd%20has%20been%20at%20the%20farm%20since%201942%20and%20I%20have%20enjoyed%20their%20beef%20before%20,%20buying%20steaks%20reminded%20me%20of%20the%20Waitrose%20Heston%20Blumenthal%20Tagliata%20recipe%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETagliata%20is%20an%20Italian%20dish%20where%20the%20steak%20is%20cut%20into%20thin%20slices%20and%20drizzled%20with%20dressing%20and%20mixed%20with%20salad.%20%20%20I%20decided%20on%20an%20English%20spring%20tagliata%20using%20the%20best%20of%20local%20seasonal%20produce%20%20watercress%20and%20new%20potatoes%20and%20asparagus.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlthough%20every%20week%20seems%20to%20be%20devoted%20to%20some%20food,%20%20this%20week%20is%20designated%20National%20Watercress%20Week%20.%20%20Personally%20have%20been%20craving%20watercress%20since%20%20my%20favourite%20watercress%20picking%20spot%20was%20massacred%20by%20the%20local%20council%20maintaining%20the%20canal%20towpath%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20I%20needed%20to%20pick%20up%20some%20new%20season%20watercress%20in%20the%20greencrocers,%20this%20time%20of%20year%20the%20watercress%20is%20very%20young%20with%20tendrils%20rather%20than%20stalks%20,%20the%20grocers%20%20english%20new%20potatoes%20were%20expensive%20(Note%20the%20supermarket%2099p%20deals%20come%20from%20Chad)%20but%20I%20only%20needed%20a%20few.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFat%20English%20Asparagus%20stalks%20came%20from%20Woodlands%20Farm%20,%20currently%20being%20showered%20with%20awards%20for%20their%20organic%20farming,%20the%20produce%20all%20looked%20so%20lovely%20that%20have%20been%20tempted%20to%20try%20out%20their%20vege-boxes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20the%20dressing%20(%20olive%20oil,%20garlic,%20white%20wine%20vinegar%20,%20mustard%20,%20lemon%20juice%20salt%20and%20pepper)%20%20soaking%20on%20the%20boiled%20new%20potatoes%20it%20was%20simply%20a%20question%20of%20letting%20the%20steaks%20cook%20and%20then%20rest%20while%20the%20asparagus%20grilled%20.%20With%20a%20nod%20to%20the%20Italian%20origins%20we%20drank%20a%20Montepulciano%20.%20The%20salad%20took%20just%20a%20few%20seconds%20to%20put%20on%20the%20plate%20%20and%20the%20remainder%20the%20steak.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dish%20was%20delicious%20%20meat%20well%20done%20on%20the%20outside%20yet%20rare%20inside%20a%20,%20charred%20asparagus%20with%20sweet%20woodiness%20,%20a%20taste%20you%20only%20get%20from%20the%20BBQ%20.%20%20Slicing%20the%20steak%20meant%20it%20soaked%20up%20the%20dressing%20as%20had%20the%20soft%20new%20potatoes,%20the%20watercress%20was%20just%20peppery%20and%20crunchy%20enough%20though%20beginning%20to%20wilt%20under%20the%20acid%20dressing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20summer%20approaches%20I%20can%20imagine%20do%20this%20more%20with%20peppers%20or%20even%20fruits%20like%20peaches%20BBQ%20as%20the%20steaks%20rests.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnglish%20Spring%20Tagliata%20with%20BBQ%20Beef%20Steak,%20%20Watercress%20,%20Asparagus%20and%20New%20Potatoes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%20two%20v.greedy%20people%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStoke%20up%20the%20BBQ.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20the%20dressing%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBoil%20the%20new%20potatoes%20whole,%20cut%20in%20half%20and%20while%20warm%20place%20in%20the%20dressing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeason%20the%20steaks%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper%20on%20both%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBBQ%20the%20steaks%20,%20once%20one%20side%20is%20well%20done%20turn%20and%20cook%20the%20other%20side%20for%20just%20few%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELeave%20the%20steaks%20to%20rest%20,%20and%20BBQ%20the%20asparagus%20don%E2%80%99t%20worry%20if%20they%20char%20slightly%20thick%20stems%20can%20take%20some%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToss%20the%20asparagus%20and%20watercress%20with%20the%20potatoes%20in%20the%20dressing,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20salad%20from%20the%20dressing%20and%20arrange%20on%20a%20plate%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20the%20steak%20and%20place%20%20on%20top%20of%20the%20%20salad%20,%20pour%20over%20the%20remaining%20dressing%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20is%20definitely%20the%20first%20night%20it%20has%20been%20comfortable%20eating%20outside%20and%20since%20we%20are%20due%20a%20scorcher%20of%20a%20weekend%20I%20am%20very%20glad%20that%20as%20I%20left%20the%20%20blistering%20midday%20heat%20of%20the%20market%20I%20picked%20up%20beef%20mince%20from%20both%20%20Thorpe%20Latimer%20famous%20for%20their%20Lincoln%20Red%20and%20Blackbrook%20Longhorn%20Beef%20.%20Saturday%20night%20is%20a%20burger%20taste%20test%20%20inspired%20by%20the%20in-market%20brisk%20trade%20in%20cooked%20burgers%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
