  • 4 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 c. diced fresh plums (about 3 plums)
  • 1 c. frzn mixed vegetables, cooked and liquid removed well
  • 3/4 c. diced cooked potatoes (about 2 small)
  • 1/2 c. minced green onion
  • 3 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp wheat germ
  • 1 tsp curry pwdr
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • pie pastry (sufficient for 3 small double crust pies)

  1. When precooking vegetables, undercook slightly as they will be baked later inside the crusts; leave hard.Put together cheese, plums, vegetables, potatoes, green onions, parsley, wheat germ, curry pwdr, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Mix well. Divide pastry into 6 balls.
  3. Roll each ball into a 7-inch round. Divide filling evenly among pastry rounds. Dampen outer edge of each round with water. Bring 2 sides pastry up over filling and seal at top. Pinch to seal.
  4. Brush with egg water mix.
  5. Place pasties on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 30 min or possibly till pastry is golden brown and crisp.
  6. Makes 6 pasties.
