Ellu Sadam (Sesame Rice) Recipe
Ingredients:
- Basmati Rice – 1 cup, cooked
- Salt as per taste
- Sesame Seeds – 1/2 cup
- Copra – 2 tblsp, grated
- Dry Red Chillies – 4
- For Tempering:
- Sesame Seed Oil – 2 tblsp
- Peanuts – 3 tblsp, shelled
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Dry Red Chillies – 2, halved
- Urad Dal – 1 tsp
- Chana Dal – 1 tsp
Curry Leaves – few
Method:
1. Heat a small pan over low heat.
2. Roast the sesame seeds and copra separately for 2 to 4 minutes. Keep aside.
3. Heat oil in the same pan.
4. Add red chillies and fry for a minute.
5. Add the sesame seeds and copra.
6. Grind to a fine powder.
7. Heat oil for tempering in a small pan.
8. Fry the peanuts.
9. When they are almost fried, add the remaining ingredients.
10. When mustard seeds start spluttering and dals turn golden, remove from heat.
11. Place rice in a bowl and add the tempering ingredients.
12. Add some salt and the ground masala.
13. Mix well.
14. Serve.
