- On each steak, spread thin layer of mustard. Place bacon slice on top. Place a few slices of onion. Roll up snugly and fasten with toothpicks. Brown in small amount of shortening or possibly oil. When well browned, add in approximately 2 c. water and simmer for approximately 1 1/2 hrs. Mustard will thicken gravy. Excellent with broad buttered noodles or possibly mashed potatoes.
- Variation: In roll, you can put a dill pickle, carrot, or possibly omit pickle, mustard and carrot, and add in bay leaf while simmering.
