Since 1997, Grace’s Trattoria has been serving some of the most authentic Italian dishes in New York City for over 15 years. Founded by the Doria family as a complement to their gourmet shop, Grace’s Marketplace, around the corner, the restaurant has always been a way for the Dorias to showcase their family recipes, using ingredients directly sourced from their store.
InteriorTo celebrate the upcoming Easter holiday, this neighborhood institution invited a few media folks to sample some of special Easter menu items. Intrigued and impressed by any resto that has survived the brutally competitive NYC dining scene for so long, of course I had to check this out.

.%20The%20lobster%20was%20buttery%20and%20so%20fresh%20it%20tasted%20like%20it%20was%20plucked%20right%20out%20of%20the%20Mediterranean%20Sea%20that%20morning.%20No%20wonder%20this%20dish%20is%20a%20year%20round%20staple%20on%20Grace's%20menu!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPan%20Seared%20Arctic%20Char%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20much%20could%20top%20the%20Signature%20Tagliatelle,%20but%20the%20Pan%20Seared%20Arctic%20Char%20with%20Asparagus%20and%20Couscous%20made%20a%20decent%20attempt%20for%20a%20follow%20up.%20In%20full%20disclosure,%20I'm%20not%20the%20biggest%20fan%20of%20salmon,%20so%20I%20when%20I%20saw%20the%20pink%20fish%20appear%20in%20front%20of%20me,%20I%20was%20not%20exactly%20jumping%20for%20joy%20(FYI,%20Arctic%20Char%20is%20a%20relative%20of%20salmon).%20However,%20the%20Arctic%20Char%20had%20more%20delicate%20texture,%20along%20with%20a%20cleaner%20and%20milder%20flavor%20than%20the%20former%20-%20which%20was%20to%20much%20more%20to%20my%20liking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoasted%20Rack%20of%20Colorado%20Lamb%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20starting%20to%20feel%20full%20but%20saved%20room%20-%20as%20I%20knew%20the%20main%20entree%20was%20next.%20The%20Roasted%20Rack%20of%20Colorado%20Lamb%20served%20with%20rosemary%20infused%20fingerling%20potatoes%20was%20divine.%20The%20lamb%20was%20not%20gamey%20smelling%20at%20all%20(which%20is%20always%20my%20biggest%20fear)%20and%20had%20a%20deep,%20rich%20flavor%20with%20a%20very%20tender%20texture.%20The%20sweet%20hot%20mustard%20rub%20provided%20a%20nice%20bit%20of%20spice%20for%20the%20lamb%20and%20made%20the%20dish%20deliciously%20different%20from%20the%20standard%20rack%20of%20lamb%20found%20in%20most%20restaurants.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVanilla%20Bean%20Panna%20Cotta%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAn%20Italian%20feast%20is%20never%20complete%20without%20dessert%20-%20so%20the%20last%20course%20was%20a%20(thankfully%20mini)%20Vanilla%20Bean%20Panna%20Cotta%20topped%20with%20strawberries%20and%20a%20bit%20of%20balsamic%20vinaigrette.%20I%20wasn't%20a%20huge%20fan%20of%20the%20slightly%20sour%20balsamic%20but%20the%20Panna%20Cotta%20was%20smooth%20and%20creamy%20-%20and%20just%20sweet%20enough%20to%20end%20the%20meal%20on%20a%20delightfully%20full%20note.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20summer,%20Grace's%20Trattoria%20and%20Grace's%20Marketplace%20will%20leave%20their%20home%20of%2030%20plus%20years,%20as%20they%20will%20be%20moving%20down%20a%20few%20blocks%20to%20a%20new%20space%20on%2068th%20and%202nd.%20Although%20this%20new%20spot%20promises%20to%20be%20bigger%20and%20better,%20I'm%20glad%20I%20got%20the%20chance%20to%20try%20the%20OG%20before%20it%20rides%20off%20into%20the%20sunset!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrace%E2%80%99s%20Trattoria%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E201%20East%2071st%20Street%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENew%20York,%20NY%2010021%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(212)%20452-2323%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewww.gracestrattoria.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECuisine:%20Italian%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
