- Put the 1/2 c. hot water, yeast, and 1 tsp. sugar in a large mixing bowl. Stir to blend and let stand for 5 min to dissolve the yeast.
- Add in the 1 c. hot water, butter, 1/3 c. sugar, salt, egg, and 1 c. flour. Beat the mix vigorously till smooth. Add in the remaining 2 c. flour and beat again till smooth. Add in the dry fruit.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3 -inch pan or possibly two 5 x 3 x 3-inch pans, loosely cover with plastic wrap, and let stand till doubled in bulk or possibly till risen to the top of the pan.
- Preheat the oven to 375F. Bake the bread for 35 min if you are baking two small loaves; or possibly 45 min if baking one large loaf. Remove from the oven, turn out of the pan, and cold on a rack.
