Ингредиенты

  • 1 c. dry navy, kidney, lima or possibly marrow beans
  • Small piece of ham or possibly ham bone or possibly 1/8 pound salt pork
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 3-4 peppercorns
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 ribs celery with leaves, minced
  • 1/2 very thinly sliced onion
  • 1 chopped clove garlic
  • 1/8 teaspoon saffron

Инструкции

  1. Soak beans as directed on package; drain. Add in the next 5 ingredients and cook the soup slowly till beans are soft, about 2 1/2-3 hrs. For the last 30 min add in the remaining ingredients. Remove and mince the meat then add in back to the soup. Serve with croutons, crackers or possibly hot French bread.
