%20good.%20Something%20that%20I'd%20say%20hell%20yeah%20-%20bring%20on%20the%20Bucket%20-%20when%20a%20craving%20comes%20along.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20a%20long%20time%20though,%20I've%20always%20wanted%20to%20try%20making%20some%20version%20at%20home,%20just%20to%20see%20what%20it'd%20be%20like.%20Not%20by%20trying%20to%20hunt%20down%20the%20secret%2011%20spices%20that%20the%20Colonel%20uses%20for%20the%20wonder%20chicken,%20might%20I%20stress.%20Although,%20there%20was%20a%20moment%20when%20I%20contemplated%20throwing%20together%2011%20random%20spices/herbs%20from%20my%20cupboard%20to%20see%20what%20it'd%20create.%20Which%20I%20imagined%20to%20be%20a%20Disaster%20so%20I%20quickly%20moved%20on%20from%20that%20idea!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20I%20tried%20to%20keep%20it%20fairly%20simple%20%E2%80%93%20having%20said%20that,%20I%20also%20thought%20that%20by%20baking%20instead%20of%20frying,%20it'd%20be%20a%20little%20easier.%20But%20I'm%20still%20trying%20to%20get%20used%20to%20my%20new%20oven,%20and%20am%20finding%20the%20fan%20quite%20a%20bugger%20to%20contend%20with.%20It's%20proving%20tricky%20to%20cook%20things%20evenly%20and%20I'm%20constantly%20having%20to%20compensate%20for%20it%20cooking%20things%20too%20quickly%20(ie%20burning%20on%20outside,%20not%20cooking%20inside).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENeedless%20to%20say,%20it%20came%20out%20all%20right,%20you%20know%20%E2%80%93%20yes,%20it%20looks%20a%20bit%20charred,%20but%20it%20was%20indeed%20very%20tasty,%20with%20gorgeously%20crispy%20skin%20too.%20But%20NOT%20a%20substitute%20for%20real%20KFC,%20got%20that?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDIY%20KFC%20(kind%20of)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Put%20the%20chopped%20wedges%20into%20a%20pan%20of%20water%20with%20the%20salt%20and%20bring%20to%20the%20boil.%20Turn%20down%20to%20simmer%20for%20about%205%20minutes,%20just%20til%20they%20are%20partially%20cooked.%20Drain%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Preheat%20the%20oven%20to%20180%20degrees%20C.%20On%20a%20dinner%20plate,%20mix%20together%20the%20paprika,%20oregano,%20rosemary%20and%20cornflour.%20In%20a%20wide%20bowl,%20lightly%20beat%20the%20egg.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Roll%20a%20piece%20of%20chicken%20into%20the%20paprika%20mix,%20then%20dip%20into%20the%20egg%20on%20each%20side,%20before%20rolling%20into%20the%20paprika%20mix%20again.%20Transfer%20to%20a%20lined%20baking%20tray.%20Repeat%20for%20all%20the%20chicken%20pieces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20the%20partially%20cooked%20potatoes%20to%20another%20baking%20tray.%20Bake%20the%20chicken%20and%20potatoes%20for%20about%2030%20minutes,%20turning%20the%20chicken%20once%20halfway.%20The%20chicken%20skin%20will%20crisp%20nicely%20and%20it%20is%20done%20when%20you%20can%20stick%20in%20a%20fork%20and%20the%20juices%20run%20clear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20with%20piping%20hot%20baked%20beans%20and%20some%20cheeky%20coleslaw%20if%20desired!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPsst,%20if%20either%20the%20chicken%20or%20the%20potatoes%20start%20to%20brown%20too%20quickly,%20cover%20with%20foil%20so%20that%20they%20continue%20to%20cook%20without%20burning%20;%20-%20)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOther%20chickeny%20recipes%20you%20might%20enjoy.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
