District M in the new Row NYC Hotel in Times Square is a hip yet unpretentious eatery/lounge on the main floor of this highly publicized and youthful hotel. There is stadium seating you can eat on (something that has only been seen before in Jay-Z's 40/40 eatery in Chelsea) as well as comfortable high table and banquet seating. The food comes out as fast as lightning and DJ Cherry spins jams from every era--she is actually a singer signed to Justin Timberlake's production company so we might be seeing very big things from her in the future.

%20as%20well%20as%20comfortable%20high%20table%20and%20banquet%20seating.%20The%20food%20comes%20out%20as%20fast%20as%20lightning%20and%20DJ%20Cherry%20spins%20jams%20from%20every%20era--she%20is%20actually%20a%20singer%20signed%20to%20Justin%20Timberlake's%20production%20company%20so%20we%20might%20be%20seeing%20very%20big%20things%20from%20her%20in%20the%20future.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDistrict%20MI%20enjoyed%20the%20dim%20lighting%20and%20high%20ceilings,%20which%20give%20District%20M%20a%20feeling%20of%20airiness--and%20all%20the%20menu%20selections%20are%20big%20enough%20to%20share.%20It's%20all%20casual%20quick%20food%20like%20pizzas%20and%20charcuterie%20but%20it's%20high%20quality%20and%20delicious.%20My%20dining%20partner%20Gail%20and%20I%20shared%20three%20appetizers%20and%20one%20handstretched%20pizza%20and%20together%20we%20could%20not%20even%20eat%20half%20the%20food.%20Gail%20started%20with%20the%20I'm%20Walking%20Here%20cocktail%20($14),%20which%20consists%20of%20vodka,%20elderflower%20liqueur,%20white%20grape%20juice%20and%20lime.%20It%20was%20an%20unusual,%20fruity%20and%20refreshing%20drink.%20There%20are%20many%20unique%20District%20M%20cocktails%20including%20one%20actually%20called%20District%20M%20($13)%20consisting%20of%20bourbon,%20ginger%20ale,%20pomegranate%20syrup%20and%20lemon,%20which%20is%20one%20of%20their%20most%20popular.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECharcuterie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAppetizers%20are%20served%20on%20long%20pieces%20of%20black%20slate%20that%20look%20like%20pavers%20you%20might%20find%20in%20your%20backyard%20garden.%20The%20Charcuterie%20($16)%20came%20out%20first,%20and%20it%20consisted%20of%20a%20generous%20quantity%20of%20finocchiona,%20sopressata%20and%20surryano%20ham%20with%20sides%20of%20grain%20mustard,%20a%20sliced%20Pain%20d'Avignon%20baguette,%20brined%20string%20beans%20and%20okra.%20It%20was%20an%20ideal%20starter%20for%20a%20low%20carb%20dieter%20like%20myself.%20The%20surryano%20ham%20was%20sliced%20thin%20and%20especially%20moist--probably%20some%20of%20the%20best%20I%20have%20ever%20had.%20Next,%20the%20Cheese%20plate%20came%20($15)%20which%20consists%20of%20tasty%20Selles%20Sur%20Cher,%20goat's%20milk,%20France%20Ewephoria,%20sheep's%20milk,%20Netherlands%20Jasper%20Hill,%20cow's%20milk%20and%20Vermont%20cheeses.%20On%20the%20side%20was%20wonderful%20sliced%20homemade%20cranberry%20walnut%20bread%20and%20balsamic%20pickled%20figs.%20This%20was%20one%20of%20the%20greatest%20variety%20of%20cheeses%20I%20have%20ever%20had%20on%20a%20NYC%20restaurant%20cheese%20plate%20and%20overall,%20there%20is%20probably%208%20or%209%20ounces%20of%20cheese%20in%20this%20generous%20portion.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EM...Is%20For%20Mushroom%20Pizza%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen,%20my%20dining%20partner%20and%20I%20shared%20the%20Croque%20Monsieur%20($16),%20which%20was%20a%20thick%20and%20heart%20sandwich%20served%20piping%20hot%20and%20gooey.%20It%20was%20basically%20melted%20Gruyere%20and%20Parisienne%20Ham%20on%20brioche%20bread%20but%20it%20was%20served%20with%20about%203/4%20cups%20of%20baby%20lettuces%20with%20a%20vinaigrette%20and%20a%20side%20of%20delicious%20homemade%20Green%20Goddess%20dipping%20sauce.%20I%20dare%20say%20that%20this%20is%20the%20perfect%20warm%20sandwich%20for%20a%20cold%20New%20York%20day%20(or%20night)!%20As%20our%20entree,%20we%20shared%20the%20M...Is%20For%20Mushroom%20Pizza%20($16),%20which%20is%20the%20most%20popular%20pizza%20at%20District%20M.%20I%20was%20expecting%20a%20%22personal%20size%22%20pie%20but%20I%20would%20say%20it%20was%20at%20least%2014%20inches%20in%20diameter!%20The%20pizza%20was%20served%20on%20top%20of%20a%20wallpaper-covered%20can%20of%20San%20Marzano%20tomatoes%20that%20they%20use%20to%20make%20the%20sauce%20from%20and%20on%20the%20pie%20were%20luscious%20roasted%20cremini%20mushrooms,%20melted%20leeks%20and%20Fontina%20cheese%20that%20stretched%20like%20nobody's%20business.%20This%20pie%20was%20ultra-filling%20and%20one%20of%20the%20most%20creative%20ones%20I%20have%20come%20across%20lately!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMural%20of%20Tortilla%20Flats%20on%20Wall%20of%20Executive%20Suite%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20to%20check%20out%20the%20colorful%20rooms%20full%20of%20interesting%20pop%20art-inspired%20graphics%20on%20the%20walls%20and%20window%20shades%20while%20I%20was%20there.%20The%20hotel%20is%20themed%20on%20five%20great%20New%20York%20neighborhoods%20including%20Chelsea,%20East%20Village,%20Soho%20and%20the%20West%20Village%20so%20there%20are%20photo%20murals%20on%20the%20walls%20of%20every%20floor%20and%20rooms%20are%20painted%20the%20colors%20of%20five%20subway%20lines!%20I%20noticed%20in%20doing%20research%20on%20priceline.com,%20you%20can%20get%20a%20standard%20room%20for%20as%20little%20as%20$110%20a%20night%20even%20though%20%22rack%20rate%22%20is%20$220.%20The%20hotel%20is%20generally%20at%2098%20per%20cent%20capacity%20due%20to%20its%20central%20location%20and%20while%20you%20are%20waiting%20on%20line%20to%20get%20your%20room,%20you%20will%20find%20a%20few%20extras%20to%20keep%20you%20entertained--there%20are%20Macs%20that%20you%20can%20use%20for%20free%20in%20the%20lobby%20close%20to%20the%20check%20in%20desk%20and%20often%20staff%20serves%20hot%20chocolate%20to%20anyone%20waiting%20in%20line.%20I%20recently%20checked%20out%20four%20levels%20of%20rooms%20and%20was%20stunned%20by%20the%20views%20of%20Times%20Square%20and%20the%20historic%20theaters%20in%20the%20area%20from%20each%20window.%20Toiletries%20are%20by%20PUR%20and%20while%20the%20hotel%20does%20not%20have%20amenities%20like%20a%20spa%20or%20pool,%20they%20do%20have%20a%20concierge%20and%20housekeeping%20staff%20that%20do%20things%20way%20above%20and%20beyond%20the%20call%20of%20duty.%20There%20is%20even%20a%20guest%20relations%20manager%20who%20can%20take%20you%20to%20see%20all%20different%20levels%20of%20rooms%20in%20case%20you%20want%20to%20upgrade.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDistrict%20M%20will%20soon%20be%20adding%20an%20eatery%20%22neighbor%22%20behind%20their%20stadium%20seating%20area,%20which%20will%20be%20inspired%20by%20the%20food%20stores%20of%20the%20Chelsea%20Market,%20and%20it%20will%20include%20a%20Murray's%20Cheeses.%20Celebrity%20photography%20by%20the%20legendary%20Ron%20Galella%20will%20be%20installed%20and%20projected%20all%20over%20the%20walls%20of%20District%20M,%20so%20be%20sure%20to%20come%20by%20for%20a%20visit%20between%20mid%20and%20late%20April.%20All%20hail%20District%20M%20and%20Row%20NYC--it's%20so%20nice%20to%20have%20happening%20hot%20spots%20in%20Times%20Square%20once%20more%20(and%20ones%20that%20are%20reasonably%20priced)!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDistrict%20M%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E700%20Eighth%20Avenue%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENew%20York,%20NY%2010036%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(212)%20869-3600%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECuisine:%20Italian%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewww.rownyc.com%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
