- Method: Put bacon, onion and butter into a saucepan and cook till bacon is golden brown and onion is soft. Stir in flour, then gradually add in lager and cook till thickened, stirring frequently. Add in cheeses, stirring all the time, and continue cooking till cheeses have melted and mix is smooth. Pour into a fondue pot and serve with gherkins and chunks of light rye bread.
