- Add in yeast to 1/8 c. hot water and 2 tsp. sugar and let bubble. Mix lowfat milk, sugar, shortening, potatoes and egg. Add in yeast mix and 1/2 c. flour. Beat with mixer. Now add in salt. Mix. Let stand 10 min. Fold in additional flour with wooden spoon till dough leaves the side of the bowl.
- Place in greased bowl and let rise 3 times; the last rising should be on a floured cutting board for only 15-20 min. Cut into pcs and shape into ball the size of walnut. Flatten and add in filling of choice. Bake for 7-10 min. Brush with melted butter.
- Fillings can be canned Solo brand or possibly fresh sweetened fruits: apricots, peaches or possibly cherries.
