Good morning all from slightly warmer England!

I'm officially broke....

Because we just bought our first home!

Yup, the contracts have been exchanged and me & my fiancee now own a beautiful Victorian terrace on a teeny little old style street. We get the keys Friday. Whoop!

The downside is, all my money is going on nice new house stuff, like shelves & paint. I haven't the money to buy different ingredients to try out new recipes this week. So this has truly been a time of going through the cupboards, looking at what cans the family have shoved to the back and being creative with it.

Sometimes, isn't that just the best way?

The results have ranged from mushroom & chickpea sauce risotto - to a thick garlic & tomato bean stew (the results of that one were a little....anti-social) and even this. A cous cous dish. I raided the cupboard and found the ingredients to one of the tastiest cous cous meals I'm prepared in a while. Cupboard raiding successful.

Hence the title. I'm afraid this cous cous isn't some kitchen version of Indiana Jones (though feck, wouldn't that be cool?) It's simple. Like the name. Why make up some fancy pants title for something I threw together and actually tasted okay?!

Ooh, some stock! Perfect.

A can of tuna. Yup, that'll do nicely. Hope we've got a...

...Yay! We have an onion left over...

...ooh look a can of Apricots!...

and some lime juice!?

Ahh brilliant. I made enough for two people, and simply ate the other half the next day. So made this way, it makes two servings. It also tastes nice cold. Just to let you know.

1 teaspoon honey.

3 tablespoons boiling water.

Pinch of salt and pepper.

Cook your cous cous to the packet instructions.

In a frying pan, cook your onion, coriander & garlic in a little oil for a few minutes. Add the tuna, smoked paprika, salt and pepper and cook for a further few minutes.

Next add the chopped apricots (leave one halves aside for decoration if that your thing.) Leave it all to simmer away on a low heat.

In a jug, mix together the lime juice, chili powder & honey. Stir it well. Add in the boiling water and then whisk lightly. Next add it to the frying pan and mix in well. Add in the cous cous, stir until everything is combined and then serve.

Yuum!

So now I have to ask my fellow food lovers & cooks... anyone got any good storage ideas for our new kitchen? This is what it looks like at the moment... Take away the oven & fridge as they are now gone....

This is my highly technical drawing of what I'd like ideally. It's going to be a very deep red colour too. There's a pantry (ooh heck I nearly wrote panty!) to the side, so I don't have to worry about where to store dog food/cans/pasta.

Anyone got any good ideas? We're open to them!

...I know what you're thinking. I'm wasted in cooking. I should be an artist, right?
