Рецепт Creole Bacon Green Beans {Slow Cooker Monday}
Made brown sugar, bacon, garlic salt, and salsa, these slow cooker green beans make a wonderful accompaniment to any main dish you decide to cook!
This past weekend was a crazy one! Between teaching cooking classes, going to the annual balloon fiesta, having a sick daughter, and having lunch dates with friends, I barely touched the blog and have been one step behind in my household chores for the week. Does this ever happen to you? It's like, all of a sudden, things start piling up on your calendar and before you know it, the dishes haven't been touched or the living room hasn't been vacuumed. Or in my case, blog posts never get written.
Of course, half of what happened over the weekend was 'optional' so-to-speak. I didn't have to go to the balloon fiesta, but I wanted to. I didn't have to go out to lunch with a friend, but I wanted to. I do know that there are some things life that just aren't optional, such as taking care of your sick baby girl (who is feeling much better, by the way) and teaching little chefs how to cook (which is always a fun way to spend my Saturdays), and you just have to do it. It's a constant battle...learning to separate the things I must do from the things that I don't have to do. I'm slowly learning how to do it though. It's a work in a progress. As for those dishes and the living room, Husband Man did them for me ;) **swoon** Wonder if I can get him to help with dinner too ;)
All kidding aside, these beans should help dinnertime run smoother. They literally are the perfect compliment to any main dish. You can cook them up in the slow cooker for a few hours and concentrate on other tasks, such as making the main course or cleaning the kitchen. It's all about multi-tasking in this day and age ;)
Salsa and bacon (not pictured) are the secret ingredients in this recipe. It never would have occurred to me to mix these two ingredients in with green beans, however, it works. Don't ask me how it works, it just does. We used a medium flavored salsa to turn it up a notch, however, you can use mild if you aren't used to food being spicy. The robust flavor of the salsa combined with the smokiness of the bacon gives this side dish the extra kick it deserves! I'm ready to make these again, they are just that good!
