%20at%20the%20local%20butchers%20the%20other%20day,%20and%20could%20hardly%20wait%20to%20cook%20them.%20You%20can%20tell%20a%20good%20butcher%20by%20his%20sausages%20you%20know!%20I%20was%20eager%20to%20see%20if%20our%20local%20butcher%20was%20up%20to%20scratch!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20love%20a%20good%20sausage,%20which%20is%20strange,%20because%20.%20.%20.%20when%20I%20was%20a%20child%20I%20absolutely%20hated%20them!%20My%20mom%20always%20got%20the%20cheapest%20ones%20going,%20and%20once%20in%20while%20you%20might%20get%20a%20piece%20of%20gristle%20or%20bone%20in%20them.%20As%20soon%20as%20it%20touched%20my%20teeth,%20it%20made%20me%20want%20to%20gag.%20There%20was%20no%20way%20you%20could%20get%20me%20near%20a%20sausage%20with%20a%20ten%20foot%20pole!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20an%20adult%20I%20have%20come%20to%20appreciate%20a%20really%20good%20quality%20sausage%20.%20.%20.%20fat,%20moist%20and%20meaty,%20with%20not%20a%20lot%20of%20fillers,%20and%20a%20wonderfully,%20somewhat%20coarse%20texture.%20Skin%20so%20*quality*%20that%20it%20almost%20snaps%20when%20you%20bite%20into%20it,%20and%20a%20good%20mix%20of%20spice%20to%20flavour%20them,%20depending%20on%20the%20variety%20you%20buy.%20My%20personal%20favourites%20happen%20to%20be%20Cumberland,%20which%20are%20nicely%20flavoured%20and%20peppery.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways,%20I%20picked%20up%20some%20sausages%20from%20our%20local%20butchers%20and%20decided%20to%20cook%20them%20for%20our%20tea%20tonight.%20I%20wanted%20to%20create%20something%20delicious%20with%20them%20.%20.%20.%20not%20the%20usual%20bangers%20and%20mash,%20but%20a%20fry%20up%20that%20would%20use%20up%20some%20of%20the%20things%20in%20my%20fridge%20that%20needed%20using%20up%20NOW!%20ie.%20some%20cream%20left%20in%20a%20cream%20jug,%20a%20small%20piece%20of%20cabbage%20and%20some%20pasta%20that%20was%20soon%20going%20out%20of%20date.%20I%20also%20had%20some%20mustards%20living%20in%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%20couple%20of%20jars%20that%20I%20wanted%20to%20get%20rid%20of.%20They%20were%20taking%20up%20a%20lot%20of%20space%20in%20the%20fridge%20that%20I%20needed%20for%20other%20things.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think%20I%20came%20up%20with%20a%20real%20cracker%20here!%20I%20had%20to%20write%20it%20down%20so%20that%20I%20wouldn't%20forget%20it%20and%20so%20that%20I%20can%20make%20it%20again.%20It%20turned%20that%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EImagine%20little%20meaty%20bites%20of%20a%20well%20flavoured%20sausage,%20in%20a%20creamy%20sauce%20filled%20with%20not%20one%20.%20.%20.%20but%20two%20tasty%20mustards,%20caramelized%20onions%20and%20cabbage,%20and%20a%20rustic%20homestyle%20pasta%20.%20.%20.%20perfectly%20shaped%20to%20hug%20and%20soak%20in%20all%20those%20lovely%20juices.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20my%20but%20this%20was%20good.%20I%20may%20have%20the%20leftovers%20for%20brekki%20in%20the%20morning,%20and%20who%20could%20blame%20me!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20and%20just%20for%20the%20record???%20This%20local%20butcher%20is%20a%20real%20gem!%20I'm%20keeping%20him!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Creamy%20Mustard%20Sausage%20and%20Pasta%20Hot%20Dish*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20delicious.%20You%20get%20the%20caramelized%20sweetness%20from%20the%20onions%20and%20cabbage,%20along%20with%20the%20spicy%20tang%20of%20two%20mustards,%20and%20the%20richness%20of%20a%20good%20Butcher's%20sausage%20and%20cream.%20Fantastic!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20oil%20in%20a%20large,%20heavy%20bottomed%20skillet.%20Add%20the%20onions%20and%20cabbage.%20Cook%20and%20stir,%20until%20they%20begin%20to%20wilt%20and%20become%20very%20sweet.%20You%20want%20them%20nice%20and%20soft%20and%20golden.%20If%20it%20helps,%20pop%20a%20lid%20on%20and%20let%20them%20steam/fry%20for%20a%20good%20ten%20minutes%20or%20so.%20When%20the%20vegetables%20have%20caramelized,%20add%20the%20sausage%20meat%20torn%20into%20chunks.%20Cook,%20stirring%20occasionally,%20until%20well%20browned%20all%20over%20and%20sticky%20as%20well.%20Stir%20in%20the%20mustards%20and%20cream,%20mixing%20in%20well.%20Check%20the%20seasoning%20and%20add%20salt%20and%20pepper%20as%20needed.%20Stir%20in%20the%20parsley,%20cover%20and%20take%20off%20the%20heat.%20Set%20aside,%20while%20the%20pasta%20cooks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20the%20pasta%20according%20to%20the%20package%20directions%20in%20some%20lightly%20salted%20boiling%20water.%20Scoop%20the%20cooked%20pasta%20out%20of%20the%20water%20and%20right%20into%20the%20pan%20with%20the%20sausage%20mixture.%20Give%20it%20a%20good%20stir%20to%20coat.%20Taste%20and%20adjust%20seasoning%20once%20more%20as%20needed.%20Serve%20immediately.%20(%20Don't%20worry%20if%20a%20bit%20of%20the%20pasta%20water%20gets%20into%20the%20pan,%20this%20adds%20to%20the%20sauce,%20just%20so%20long%20as%20it's%20not%20a%20lot.%20You%20don't%20want%20it%20to%20be%20too%20thin.)%20Scrummily%20moreish!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
