I used to make it for him, but now he is old enough to prepare it himself. He likes to add some milk to make it extra creamy. Campbell’s Condensed Soups are also great for cooking and I am going to share my boys’ favorite Creamy Mushroom Cheese Fondue with you today. As a family we have always been very fond of hotpots and fondues. It is a great way to spend quality family time around the table. When Ro-Jiro was little, he would call the fondue “fun food”. Fondues really are fun food as they are so much fun to eat. What kid would not love to pierce the food with a long skewer and dunk it in their favorite dip? Since cheese fondues are often made with wine, I came up with the idea of using their favorite Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup with the addition of shredded cheese for the dip.
Mushroom Cheese Fondue
Ingredients
- 1 can Campbell’s condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ¾ cup (180ml) milk
- ¾ cup (3oz/85g) shredded Swiss or cheddar cheese
- For Dipping
- 1 package (13oz/370g) cocktail sausages, pan fried
- 1 cup peeled baby carrots
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup cauliflower florets
Crusty bread, cut into cubes
Instructions
Combine condensed cream of mushroom soup and milk in the can in fondue pot. Place on the stove and bring it to a boil over medium low heat.
Gradually add shredded cheese, stirring constantly over low heat until melted.
Transfer fondue pot to a lighted burner on the table. Serve with cocktail sausages, baby carrots, broccoli and cauliflower florets, and crusty bread cubes.

Ro-Taro (eldest son) and Ro-Jiro love this Creamy Mushroom Cheese Fondue even to this day! It puts a smile on their faces when they saw what I had prepared for dinner.
