  • 1 2/3 c. All-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 1/3 c. HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 1 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Grnd cinnnamon
  • 1 dsh Grnd nutmeg
  • 1/2 c. Shortening
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. Applesauce
  • 1/2 c. Minced pecans VANILLA GLAZE (recipe follows)

  1. Heat oven to 350 F. Grease bottom only of 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. In large mixer bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking pwdr, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add in shortening, Large eggs and applesauce; beat just till blended. Stir in pecans. Spoon mix into prepared pan. Bake 50 to 55 min or possibly till wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cold 15 min; remove from pan to wire rack. Cold completely. Prepare VANILLA GLAZE; drizzle over bread. 1 loaf (14 servings).
  2. VANILLA GLAZE: In small bowl, stir together 1/2 c. powdered sugar and 3 to 4 tsp. lowfat milk. About 1/4 c. glaze.
