- Soak clams (halaan) in water with 1/2 tbsp of red cane vinegar for an hour to spit out the sand. Wash thoroughly then set aside. Saute garlic, onion, and ginger strips. Add tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. Add 1/3 cup of water, sugar, siling labuyo, tausi, and clams. Cover and simmer until the shells open up. Add 1 stalk of green onion.
