- Heat chocolate over warm water in top of double boiler. Remove from heat. Cream shortening, gradually add in 2 c. sugar, beating till light and fluffy. Add in melted chocolate, Large eggs, corn syrup, water and flavorings; mix well. Combine flour, soda, and salt; add in to creamed mix, beating just till blended. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in remaining sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets; bake at 350 degrees for 10 min. Cold on cookie sheets 5 min. Remove to wire racks and cold completely. Yield: 10 1/2 dozen.
