%20I%E2%80%99ve%20never%20done%20a%20cheesecake%20before.%20In%20fact,%20it%20was%20only%20a%20couple%20years%20ago%20that%20I%20actually%20began%20to%20eat%20cheesecake.%20It%20had%20never%20particularly%20looked%20or%20sounded%20appealing%20to%20me.%20Then%20on%20a%20lark%20I%20tried%20a%20piece%20in%20a%20restaurant%20(it%20happened%20to%20be%20a%20marble%20cheesecake)%20and%20really%20liked%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20for%20the%20Wondertwins%20Horror%20Fest%20on%20Saturday%20I%20decide%20to%20make%20this%20Chocolate%20Marble%20Cheesecake.%20I%20only%20had%20one%20problem%20with%20it%20and%20that%20was%20it%20cracked%20a%20bit%20on%20one%20side.%20I%20think%20the%20oven%20temperature%20called%20for%20in%20the%20recipe%20might%20be%20a%20little%20high.%20I%20think%20dropping%20that%20temperature%20to%20375%C2%B0%20might%20work%20a%20bit%20better,%20so%20keep%20that%20in%20mind%20as%20I%E2%80%99m%20reproducing%20the%20recipe%20verbatim.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20a%20topping%20(and%20to%20slightly%20disguise%20the%20cracked%20area)%20I%20used%20a%20chocolate%20whipped%20cream.%20Made%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20unsweetened%20cocoa%20powder,%20heavy%20whipping%20cream,%20and%20powdered%20sugar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20aesthetics%20of%20my%20first%20cheesecake%20try%20were%20less%20than%20spectacular%20the%20taste%20was%20a%20hit!%20In%20fact,%20we%20only%20had%20two%20slices%20left!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20here%20we%20go,%20my%20very%20first%20cheesecake!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20crust:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20450%C2%B0F.%20Grease%20a%2010-inch%20spring%20form%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20needed,%20use%20a%20rolling%20pin%20with%20the%20cookie%20crumbs%20in%20a%20sealable%20plastic%20bag%20to%20crush%20them.%20Blend%20the%20cookie%20crumbs%20with%20the%20melted%20butter,%20press%20it%20into%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan,%20and%20chill.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20mixer%20with%20a%20whisk%20attachment,%20place%20the%20softened%20cream%20cheese%20and%20whip%20it.%20Add%20the%20sugar%20and%20continue%20to%20mix%20until%20blended.%20Add%20the%20flour%20and%20salt%20and%20blend.%20Add%20the%20yolks%20and%20eggs%20gradually,%20scraping%20in%20between%20then%20add%20the%20vanilla.%20Add%203/4%20cup%20of%20the%20sour%20cream%20and%20mix%20in.%20Take%20off%202%20cups%20of%20the%20mixture%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20whisk%20the%20remaining%201/4%20cup%20sour%20cream%20with%20the%20cooled%20melted%20chocolate%20then%20whisk%20it%20into%20the%20reserved%202%20cups%20of%20filling.%20Pour%20a%20layer%20of%20the%20vanilla%20filling%20into%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan%20about%201-inch%20thick.%20By%20large%20spoonfuls,%20alternate%20the%202%20fillings%20to%20fill%20the%20spring%20form%20pan.%20Using%20the%20flat%20face%20of%20an%20icing%20spatula,%20swirl%20the%202%20batters%20slightly%20to%20marbleize%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20450%C2%B0F%20for%2015%20minutes,%20then%20turn%20the%20oven%20down%20to%20250%C2%B0F%20and%20bake%20for%201%20more%20hour.%20Then,%20turn%20the%20oven%20off%20and%20let%20it%20cool%20in%20the%20oven%201%20hour.%20The%20cake%20will%20still%20shimmy,%20but%20it%20is%20done,%20it%20will%20set%20up%20as%20it%20chills.%20Refrigerate%20the%20cake%20overnight.%20Remove%20from%20the%20spring%20form%20pan,%20slice%20with%20a%20hot,%20dry%20knife,%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBlogThis!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
