%20are%20pretty%20much%20all%20I%20ate%20all%20week.%20I%20doubt%20any%20of%20you%20would%20be%20looking%20forward%20to%20pictures%20of%20those%20with%20baited%20breath.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20did%20make%20these%20muffins.%20Sadly%20I%20did%20not%20eat%20them%20because%20(and%20I%20know%20this%20is%20crazy)%20I%20really%20dislike%20chocolate%20when%20I%20have%20a%20cold.%20So%20why,%20you%20might%20wonder,%20did%20I%20make%20chocolate%20muffins?%20Apparently%20the%20virus%20went%20to%20my%20brain%20too%20because%20I%20have%20no%20good%20answer%20for%20you%20other%20than%20the%20fact%20that%20I%20could%20not%20get%20this%20streusel%20out%20of%20my%20mind.%20But%20John%20tells%20me%20they%20were%20addictive.%20My%20mom%20found%20them%20too%20salty,%20so%20I%20have%20reduced%20the%20salt%20in%20the%20streusel%20in%20the%20recipe,%20but%20reduce%20it%20further%20if%20you%20do%20not%20like%20salty%20sweets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20actually%20starts%20with%20an%20earlier%20failed%20recipe.%20I%20tried%20to%20make%20meringue%20cookies%20from%20a%20cookbook%20about%20eggs%20that%20a%20publisher%20sent%20to%20me.%20To%20say%20they%20spectacularly%20failed%20is%20an%20understatement.%20I%20have%20no%20idea%20why%E2%80%93I%20have%20made%20successful%20meringue%20cookies%20in%20the%20past%E2%80%93more%20than%20once!%20When%20all%20was%20said%20and%20done%20this%20time%20I%20had%20beaten%2012%20eggs%20whites%20that%20never%20whipped%20properly.%20I%20finally%20baked%20off%20a%20batch%20using%203%20of%20them.%20They%20did%20not%20rise%20correctly,%20although%20they%20were%20tasty%20nonetheless.%20In%20the%20meantime%20I%20saved%20the%20failed%20whipped%20egg%20whites%20(with%20sugar)%20with%20the%20dozen%20egg%20yolks%20they%20had%20been%20separated%20from.%20I%20was%20determined%20not%20to%20waste%20this%20ridiculous%20mess,%20so%20I%20mixed%20it%20all%20together%20and%20threw%20it%20in%20the%20fridge.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20all%20of%20this%20means%20is%20that%20I%20have%20only%20provided%20a%20recipe%20for%20the%20streusel.%20I%20kind%20of%20just%20added%20the%20sugary%20egg%20mixture%20until%20the%20batter%20looked%20right%E2%80%93and%20added%20less%20sugar.%20Use%20your%20favorite%20chocolate%20muffin%20or%20cupcake%20recipe%20with%20Dutched%20cocoa%20(I%20think%20the%20streusel%20suits%20it%20better).%20This%20Triple%20Chocolate%20Muffin%20recipe%20I%20have%20made%20in%20the%20past%20would%20work%20nicely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChocolate%20Cookie-Pecan-Toffee%20Streusel%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20type:%20Misc.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20flour,%20sugar%20and%20salt.%20Using%20your%20hands,%20rub%20the%20butter%20into%20the%20flour%20mixture%20until%20the%20largest%20piece%20of%20butter%20is%20pea%20sized.%20Mix%20in%20the%20toffee%20bits,%20cookie%20crumbs%20and%20chopped%20pecans.%20Use%20your%20hands%20to%20toss%20and%20clump%20the%20mixture.%20Squeeze%20into%20clumps%20and%20then%20sprinkle%20over%20the%20filled%20muffin%20cups.%20Bake%20as%20directed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.2.2124%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echocolate,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecookies,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecupcakes,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emuffins,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Enuts,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epecans,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Estreusel,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etoffee%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
