- Preheat oven to 350F. In large mixer bowl, beat 1 c. butter, sugar and salt till fluffy. Add in flour, mix well. With floured finger, press proportionately into greased 9 inch square pan. Bake 30-35 min or possibly till lightly browned. Cold slightly. In 2 qt glass measure, with handle,in microwave oven, heat remaining 1/2 c. butter on high. for 1 min. Stir in sweetened condensed lowfat milk and corn syrup. Microwave on high for 6-8 min, stirring after each minute, or possibly till mix turns a light caramel colour.
- Stir in vanilla. Spread over hot shortbread. Drizzle with chocolate. Refrigeratetill hard. Cut into bars. Store covered at room temperature.
- Makes 24bars.
