- Line 8 inch square pan with foil before beginning. STEP 1: Heat one half of the chocolate morsels over warm (NOT BOILING) water along with 1 Tbsp. shortening. Stir over low heat till morsels heat and mix is smooth. Remove from heat. Pour into 8 inch pan and spread proportionately. Chill till hard (about 20 min.)
- STEP 2: Combine over boiling water the caramels, butter and 2 Tbsp. water.r Stir till caramels are smooth and melted. Stir in nuts till well blended. Pour on top of chocolate layer and spread proportionately. Chill till hard (about 30 min). REPEAT STEP ONE.
- STEP 3: After spreading last layer proportionately, return to chill and refrigeratetill completely hard (about 1 hour). Cut in small squares. Keep refrigerated till ready to use.
